Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Favorite Books of 2020.
2020 was a dismal year in so many ways, but on the bright side, being stuck at home most of the year meant lots of time for reading! I read so many great books this past year — here is a selection of my favorites. (Some of these are 2020 releases, and some are older — but all are books I read in 2020).
- The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
- The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
- Time After Time by Lisa Grunwald
- The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
- Hearts of Oak by Eddie Robson
- Plan Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth
- The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab
- The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow
- The Glamourist Histories (series) by Mary Robinette Kowal
- The Folk of the Air (series) by Holly Black
What were your favorite books of 2020?
Share your links, and I’ll come check out your top 10!
I hope someone makes a movie out of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
My post.
That would be amazing. Or a Netflix series! I can’t wait to see how the adaptation of Daisy Jones comes out.
It was a great year for books! Addie LaRue and The Once and Future Witches are both on my list too. I’m also making a point to read The Glamourist Histories next year:-)
That’s great! For all that 2020 was awful in so many ways, the bright side is how much reading we had time for. 🙂
Shades of Milk and Honey was such a good read! and I can’t wait to read Matt Haig’s The Midnight Library. 🙂
Have you read the other books in the Glamourist HIstories series? They’re all excellent!
Great list, Lisa! The Once and Future Witches made my list this week, too. 😀 I loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and The Cruel Prince, and I really want to read The House in the Cerulean Sea and Plain Bad Heroines.
I think you’d love The House in the Cerulean Sea! I think he has a new book coming in 2021, and I’ll definitely want to read it!
Addie LaRue is on my list as well! Such a brilliant book. I could rave about its prose for days. So many of your books are on my TBR. I’m especially excited for Once and Future Witches because I love One Thousand Doors. This is such an awesome list. Have a great reading week! Here’s the LINK to my post in case you want to drop by later.❤️️
Ten THousand Doors of January was amazing! I loved it so much too. Thanks for sharing your link!
I’m seeing Addie LaRue and Midnight Library on a lot of lists! I loved Addie but Midnight Library is still sitting on my TBR pile. 😭
I hope you get to it soon! Such a great book.
Evelyn Hugo was such a great read. I’m glad you enjoyed it so much it made this list!
I loved it! I’m just sorry it took me so long to get around to reading it.
The Cruel Prince was so good, so glad you enjoyed them all 😁
I loved the trilogy! (In fact, I just gave my daughter a set of the books, and she’s devouring them)
That’s great! My son doesn’t like reading and I wonder sometimes how, just how when he always sees me reading!!!!
Well, I have a 50% success rate — my daughter has been an avid reader all her life, and my son will just never pick up a book at all, despite all the years of our reading together.
It must be a boy thing! When he was little we always used to read together but then over time he doesn’t want to!
So happy that Plain Bad Heroines and The Midnight Library also made your list. Such incredible books!
I agree! I’m feeling a little sad because I loaned my copy of PBH to a friend, and with all the gathering restrictions in place right now, I don’t know when I’ll get it back!
What interesting choices! I’ve only read the Midnight Library, but am off to look into a few of these
Matt Haig is such a great writer. I’ll gladly read more of his books!
I’ve never heard of Shades of Milk and Honey, but I am in love with that cover! The House in the Cerulean Sea is on my TBR- and “cerulean” happens to be my favorite color! Great choices!
The whole series (Shades of Milk and Honey) is amazing, and they all have beautiful covers!
Cerulean Sea, Addie LaRue, and The Once and Future Witches all made my list as well, and I really liked The Cruel Prince. It was a good year for reading, if nothing else. Happy 2021!
I agree, despite how awful the year was in so many ways, at least there were plenty of amazing books!
Great list! So many here I want to read, especially Addie Larue and the Once and Future Witches. It’s good to know they were your favourites!
Here’s my list of favourites: TTT.
Addie LaRue was particularly great! I’m sure I’m going to want to re-read it at some point.
I loved Shades of Milk and Honey too and definitely want to carry on with the series. I’m really looking forward to reading Evelyn Hugo and Plain Bad Heroines too.
Ooh, you’ll enjoy both! The series (Shades of Milk & Honey) was amazing as a whole. I loved the characters and how they evolved over the course of the series.
Great list! Addie LaRue is also on my list! And I need to pick up some of the others!

Addie LaRue seems to be on so many lists this week! Really one of the best of 2020!
Such a great list!! Loved evelyn hugo and cruel prince! And addie larue and once and future witches were on my top ten too 😀 I also really want to read house of the cerulean sea.
I can’t wait to read more by these authors, especially TJ Klune, Taylor Jenkins Reid, and Holly Black!
