Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2022.
I actually have a very long list for 2022 — but I’ll narrow it down to the the 10 I enjoyed the most. So hard to choose!

- Darcie Little Badger
- Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows (yes, these are three people, but they co-authored the book I read!)
- Jennifer Thorne
- Sara Novic
- Julia Whelan (I’ve listened to her narrate audiobooks before, but this was my first encounter with a book she wrote herself)
- Judy Leigh
- Malinda Lo
- Zoje Stage
- Alexis Hall
- A. G. Slatter
If you’ve read any other books by these authors, please let me know which you’d recommend!
What new-to-you authors did you discover in 2022? Any particular favorites? Do we have any in common?
If you wrote a TTT post, please share your link!
I am so happy you discovered Alexis Hall last year! A Lady for a Duke is absolutely fantastic!
Ooh, I don’t know that one! So far, I’ve read Boyfriend Material and Husband Material, and have a copy of Something Fabulous on my Kindle — but I’ll go check out your recommendation too! Thanks. 🙂
Which books have you read by Sarah Novic and Julia Whelan? They both published 2. Malinda Lo published more already.

Just the ones in the pictures 🙂 — Thank You for Listening by Julia Whelan (but I hope to get to My Oxford Year soon), and True Biz by Sara Novic. I’d definitely read more by all of these authors, but as of 2022, they were new to me!
Oh I missed the pictures as they don’t have an Alt Text. The ones you mentioned are exactly the ones on my TBR. I’ve read the ones you still want to read.
Malinda Lo was one of my favorites too! I loved Telegraph Club and look forward to reading more. I haven’t read True Biz yet but her previous book was very good, I recommend it.
I have a copy of Malinda Lo’s newest (which I believe is connected to Telegraph Club?). Can’t wait to start it!
Hi Lisa – it’s great to learn about new-author-discoveries – thanks for sharing these – I am not familiar with them and happy to add to my list 🙂 Happy Tuesday reading!
Thanks, Barbara! If you do end up reading any of these, I’d love to hear about it. 🙂
Snake Falls to Earth sounds interesting!

It was wonderful! (I listened to the audiobook — terrific narration) I hope to start Elatsoe by the same author in the next couple of months.
Whelan and Hall both made my list today too! Glad we both read them this year.
They’re both so good! I’d happily read more by either one!
Same!
Great list – love discovering new authors! Just posted mine and now looking at everyone else’s and realised I forgot so many!!!
I know what you mean! I had the hardest time narrowing it down.
It is hard isn’t it!!!
The Julia Whelan and Sara Novic are two authors I’m hoping to read this year; they’re books look really good.
Highly recommended!! I loved them both.
I’ve not read any of these but I like the sound of All The Murmuring Bones and Last Night at the Telegraph Club.
Both are excellent!
I love seeing Zoje Stage on here! I’ll be reading her upcoming release soon, and I’m excited😁
I didn’t have her new release on my radar — I’ll have to look out for it!
I’ve seen Whelan on a few lists this week. Her books do sound fun!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

This one was so good! I’ve listened to her narrate a bunch of audiobooks, but this is the first for me that she’s written!
I’ve not read any of these, but the Sara Novic one is one that I want to read.

So highly recommended! It’s a terrific book.
🙂
Boyfriend Material was so good.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
I agree! Have you read Husband Material as well?
Not yet, but I do have it!
Judy Leigh’s books are SUCH fun! Glad you “met” her!
Now I just need to decide which of her books to read next! Any recommendations?
So far, Highland Hens is my favorite, but I’ve only read three!
Ooh, that’s on my list! Can’t wait !
