Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week is a Freebie week, so we all come up with our own topics. Since my wonderful, amazing, book-loving daughter is home this week, I thought I’d make her the star, and have her pick her top 10 reads from the past year.
Here are the books she’s loved recently:
(She couldn’t quite narrow it down to 10, so here are the 11 top books!)

- Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory by Raphael Bob-Waksberg
- The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett
- Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert
- Milk Blood Heat by Dantiel W. Moniz
- Happily Ever Afters by Elise Bryant
- Umami by Laia Jufresa
- Yes Please by Amy Poehler
- The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air trilogy) by Holly Black
- Good Talk by Mira Jacobs
- Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
- Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
Have you read any of these? If so, what did you think? (I’ve read 5 of her 11, and clearly need to read at least a few of the others!)
If you did a TTT post this week, please share your link!
Great list! It looks like your daughter’s read some good books – I’ve heard brilliant things about Good Talk.
That’s one I’ve read too! (Based on her recommendation, of course.) It was wonderful!
The Cruel Prince sounds good.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
It’s terrific (start of one of my favorite trilogies!)
I’ve heard so many good things about Mexican Gothic!
My post: https://lydiaschoch.com/top-ten-tuesday-bookish-gifs
It was an amazing read! It’s one of the ones she and I have in common. 🙂
Great list, and it seems like the two of you enjoy some of the same books! I’ve read Mexican Gothic and The Cruel Prince and enjoyed both of them😁
Those are two of the ones we have in common, and I love them both!
Isn’t Umami a Japanese word for some kind of savory flavor? I wonder what that book is about. But even more curious about Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory – what an amazing title/ wish and seriously, who doesn’t want that?
I have to ask my daughter more about Umami! She didn’t tell me much about it, but from what I’ve seen so far, it’s by a Mexican author, published in translation. I do love the “Who Will Love You…” title! She says it’s a collection of short stories, which wouldn’t usually draw me in, but that title is amazing and she says it’s really good. (The author is the creator of Bojack Horseman, which she’s a big fan of).
Oh! I have watched Bojack. It’s fun to connect the dots like that. Your daughter has awesome taste. 🙂
She really does! I’m so happy to be able to share a love of reading with her.
Your daughter reads such a variety of books!
My TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2021/06/01/top-ten-tuesday-318/
She’s been an avid reader all her life, and she makes some really interesting choices!
That’s so great to hear! I love hearing about the younger generation being excited about books, it makes me very happy 🙂
I love that you featured your daughter today! How fun. HAPPILY EVER AFTERS looks like a super cute read. I’m hoping to get to that one someday soonish.
Happy TTT!

That’s one I’d like to read too!
This is great to see, Lisa. I also loved Yes Please and have been interested in reading Mexican Gothic. Thanks for sharing your daughter’s faves!
I’ve been trying to get her to write one (or more) guest posts for me, but so far, she’s can’t be persuaded. 🙂
My son writes them for me now and then. It’s fun!
That’s so nice!
It’s fun!
Great job, i have read 2 out of all of these, The Cruel Prince was my favorite and i just finished Mexican Gothic which i was not a fan.
I loved The Cruel Prince too! I can’t wait to see what she writes next.
