Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Book Series I Want to Catch Up On (or series you’d like to start)
I generally start each year with a post about my series reading goals (here’s the version I shared for 2026), where I share my intentions regarding new-to-me series that I plan (or hope) to start. For today’s post, I decided to focus on the next books in series that I’m already involved with. Most of these are series that I’m totally committed to, basically just checking my calendar until the next installment is available — and a couple are series where I’ve read a book or two and feel interested in continuing, but perhaps a little less motivated to dive in the second I get hold of them.
In no particular order, here are the top ten next installments from series I’m reading — can’t wait to get to all of these!
1. October Daye by Seanan McGuire
Up next: A Divided Duty
#20 in the series
Release date: September 2026
2. Wayward Children by Seanan McGuire
Up next: A Song of Sugar Sparrows
#12 in the series
Release date: January 2027
3. InCryptids by Seanan McGuire
Up next: Pride and Poltergeists
#16 in the series
Release date: March 2027
(Yes, that’s three from three different series by Seanan McGuire!! Moving on…)
4. Alpha & Omega by Patricia Briggs
Up next: Steel Rain (no cover yet — this is an earlier book in the series)
#7 in the series
Release date: April 2027
5. Haven’s Rock by Kelley Armstrong
Up next: Last Resort at Haven’s Rock
#5 in the series (series finale)
Release date: February 2027
6. We Solve Murders by Richard Osman
Up next: We Chase Shadows
#2 in the series
Release date: September 2026
7. The Marys by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows
Up next: My Imaginary Mary

8. Well Met by Jen DeLuca
Up next: Well Versed
#5 in the series
Release date: September 2026
9. Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell
Up next: The Neverfear
#3 in the series
Release date: September 2026
10. Detour by Jeff Rake & Rob Hart
Up next: Roundabout
#2 in the series
Release date: January 2027
What series do you hope to start or continue?
If you posted a TTT list this week, please share your link!

I haven’t read any of these series so I hope you make progress on some of these soon! 😀
Here’s the link to my TTT if you’d like to check it out – https://bookishlyjessie.blog/2026/08/18/top-ten-tuesday-𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤-𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬-𝐈-𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐭/
Thanks! There are some here I”m especially excited for!
We Chase Shadows has a cool cover.
I agree! I read the first book over the summer, and had so much fun with it!
Oh, I need to continue with the Well Met series. I still haven’t read the books after the first one and I’m not sure why cos I remember loving it! I hope you enjoy these when you get to them 🙂
Thank you! I loved Well Met and the rest of the books, and was so happy to find out there’d be another book!
I definitely see a theme here 🙂
I can be a little predictable when it comes to certain series and authors!!
A Song of Sugar Sparrows sounds good.

It’s part of such a good series!
So much good reading ahead!
I need more hours in the day to keep up!!
Im ashamed to admit that I havent tried anything by Seanan McGuire yet. Although thats partially because the series I most want to try is Wayward Children but I’m always hesitant to buy novellas and my library doesnt stock them 🙈 one day I will cave and treat myself to them though. I also cant believe Haven’s Rock is finishing. I still need to read Rockton so I have some major catch up involved there. The other I particularly want to start from here is Impossible Creatures. I dont read much MG fiction but that series always sounds so good. I hope you enjoy all of these whenever you get to them. I’m highly impatient to carry on with The Raven Scholar but book two isn’t out until next year 🥲
I’m SO sad about Haven’s Rock finishing. I pretty much binged my way through Rockton and Haven’s Rock, and I’ve gotten so attached to the characters. It’ll be hard to say good-bye! Impossible Creatures has been great — I’m not much of a MG reader, but I’m glad that I tried these books. The author is so talented and the first book especially is amazing. What a shame that your library doesn’t have the Wayward Children books! The first three novellas were released as a larger 3-in-1 edition recently (Be Sure), so maybe they’d considered getting that one? I do hope you get a chance to try them!
Maybe the author will end up doing another spin off from it 🤔
Waterstones did a special edition of book one with bonus content. I didn’t get it at the time due to the MG label but I have been keeping an eye out for it on Vinted lately 😅 I’ll have to check again but I have a feeling theyre not as big over here for some reason. I very rarely see them selling via Vinted. I don’t understand why they don’t seem as big here though as they sound like such an enchanting series. I’m going to look into whether my library has a way of recommended items to add to their catalogue because I’m sure if they did stock them they’d end up being pretty popular.
I’m looking forward to reading We Chase Shadows.
Here’s my TTT for the week: https://readbakecreate.com/ten-series-i-hope-to-catch-up-on-in-2026/
Me too! I just read We Solve Murders over the summer, and can’t wait to see what happens next with these characters!
I love posts that track series (both reading them and making them). I think I’ll have to update mine at the end of the year, thanks for the reminder 🙂
I want to get into the Octobe Daye series and I need to continue Wayward Children as well, I paused midway through this year’s release for no good reason. Lots of Seanan McGuire on your list and I need to read more from her in general. Here’s my TTT 🙂.
Seanan McGuire is so talented… and can be hard to keep up with, because she releases at least four books each year lately! The October Daye series is probably my favorite urban fantasy series. 🙂
I need to catch up on October Date too.. Enjoy!
Thank you! I love the October Daye books!
You are so organized! And caught up😁 I’m also excited for Roundabout and A Song of Sugar Sparrows.
My only hesitation with Roundabout is that I’m so fuzzy on the details from Detour at this point — I remember the basic story, but I have a feeling I might be lost when it comes to the specifics unless I do a reread.
I’m sad that Haven’s Rock is ending with this book. I am also looking forward to Well Versed. I hope you enjoy all these next installments.
Rockton and Haven’s Rock have been such excellent reading journeys! I’m also really sad that it’s ending.
I love the Rockton/Haven’s Rock series and I’m sad that it’s coming to an end. I’ve enjoyed listening to these books on audio, so I’ll wait until I can get the last book in that format. I also love the Lady Jane/Mary books. I wish there were more of them. I also love WE SOLVE MURDERS. WE CATCH SHADOWS isn’t quite as good, but I still enjoyed it. Such a fun series! I can’t wait for more books. Good luck with all these!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

Thank you! I enjoyed the first Mary audiobook quite a lot, so I may continue via audio for the next two. Looking forward to starting them!
Haven’s Rock is also on my list, but I’ll be sad to see the series end.
Same! I’ve become so attached to the characters.
Well, we both know that I need to catch up with the October Daye books. Let’s see how that goes.
Good luck with all of these. Hope you get to keep on track with your series.
Lynn 😀
Thanks — I’m going to give it a try, anyway!
There are so many great books on this list that are on my TBR too! How is the McGuire series that there’s 20 books in?!?! I was asked if I wanted an ARC of the new release and I realized there were 20 books and there’s no way I can read that many before the release. haha!
It’s really my favorite of all my ongoing series! It’s definitely worth starting (and continuing!) — but you really can’t skip ahead. 🙂 I hope you check it out!
I’m looking forward to We Chase Shadows and the new Wayward Children sequel as well!
Both should be great!
