It’s time for another Classics Club Spin!
Hosted by The Classics Club blog, the Classics Club Spin is a reading adventure where participants come up with a list of classics they’d like to read, number them 1 to 20, and then read the book that corresponds to the “spin” number that comes up. This will be the Classics Club’s spin #45, and my 17th time participating!
Here are the dates and guidelines from the host blog:
On Sunday 16th August we’ll post a number from 1 through 20. The challenge is to read whatever book falls under that number on your Spin List by the 4th October, 2026.
We’ll check in here on the 4th October to see who made it the whole way and finished their spin book!
What’s Next?
- Go to your blog.
- Pick twenty books that you’ve got left to read from your Classics Club List.
- Post that list, numbered 1-20, on your blog before Sunday 16th August 2026.
- We’ll announce a number from 1-20.
- Read that book by 4th October.
I’m always excited when a new spin rolls around! For spin #45, I’ll be sticking with my interest in 20th century fiction, so that’s mainly how I’ve focused my list. Where will the spin take me this time? We’ll find out in a few days!

Here’s my list of 20 classics for the next Classics Club Spin:

What a great list. There are three maybe four that I really hope it lands on. But they are all good choices. Let’s see if my wish happens. xo
Can’t wait to find out! The anticipation is half the fun 🙂
I love Nine Coaches Waiting and Something Wicked This Way Comes…so of course I’m rooting for one of those. But your whole list looks great. Happy spinning! 😀
I’d be especially excited to end up with a Mary Stewart book… or another Daphne du Maurier — although really, any of the books on my list will make me happy! Thank you!
This is fun! I wish you all the luck and I can’t wait to see what you spin!! 🙂
Thanks so much! Can’t wait to see what I end up with!
This sounds like a fantastic idea! Can’t wait to see which book you wind up reading!
I always have such fun putting my spin lists together! I think I’d be happy with any of these!
I’ve read a few on this list. Good luck!
Thanks! Looking forward to seeing your list too!
I’m still rooting for The Ghost and Mrs. Muir😁
I’d be very happy with that one!!
Pingback: Classics Club Spin #45 – This Reading Life
This is a great list. I know The Ghost and Mrs. Muir as an excellent film of 1947, and always recommend it come Halloween. I also really enjoyed du Maurier’s The House on the Strand and Christie’s The Mysterious Affair at Styles.
I’ve never seen the film, but I do remember seeing bit of an old TV series based on the book! I would love to land on a du Maurier book… or the Christie too!
I want to reread some Mary Stewart titles. I should add them to my Classics Club list.
My mother was a fan of Mary Stewart and I remember seeing her books around the house growing up, but I’d never read any until recently! I read The Ivy Tree a few months ago, and have been wanting to read more of her books ever since.
Sunset Song is great! Hope you get one you enjoy – good luck!
Sunset Song is one I really want to read! Even if I don’t get it for this spin, I’m going to try to read it before the end of the year.
I loved The Mysterious Affair at Styles and Something Wicked This Way Comes! Good luck with the spin! 😊
I’m so glad to hear that you loved them! I think I’ll be happy with any of the books on my list!
I feel like I’ve heard of less of these than I should have 🙈 good luck with the spin. It’ll be interesting to see what you end up with. Personally I’m especially intrigued by Something Wicked This Way Comes, Left Hand Of Darkness and Jamaica Inn. I hope you enjoy whatever you end up reading.
Thanks! I’d love to end up with a du Maurier book, but honestly, I’ll be happy no matter where the spin lands. I love having these spins to motivate me to pick up the books I’ve been considering for so long.
