Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is a Thanksgiving freebie — so we can each come up with our own take on something we’re thankful for this year.
A few years ago, my Thanksgiving freebie post was about books that make me feel thankful to my book group and bookish friends — generally, books I might not have read without the booklovers in my life either recommending them or picking them for our discussions. And now that several years have passed since I shared that list, it’s about time for a fresh look!
Here are ten terrific books that I ended up reading thanks to book group picks, friend/family recommendations, or recommendations from book bloggers:

- Daniel Deronda by George Eliot
- The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon (review)
- The Neighbor Favor by Kristina Forest (review)
- All the Lonely People by Mike Gayle (review)
- Cinder House by Freya Marske (review)
- The Bookseller of Inverness by S. G. Maclean
- Every Summer After by Carley Fortune (review)
- Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi (review)
- The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon (review)
- The Night Guest by Hildur Knutsdottir (review)

Wrapping it all up… as always, I’m so grateful for all my bookish friends! Here’s to another year of sharing our reading journeys!

Carley Fortune has become a favorite of mine! I’m so glad a coworker happened to mention her to me!
Thankful that my adult grandson is reading and we talk about books for hours. I buy him books!!!! It’s so exciting. He reads them!!!! LOL I love it.
That is fantastic! I love being able to share books with the younger generations in my family!
Love this! Those memes are fabulous too!
Thank you! 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving!
This is a great idea for a list, I wish I’d thought of it. Maybe next year. I did Books I’m Thankful I Found

Ooh, I like the sound of your topic… off to check it out!
Love this! Book groups can be a mixed bag, sometimes you love the book and sometimes you don’t, but its always fun to wonder if that next book will be a favorite😁
My book groups selects a year’s worth of books in advance… and while I don’t always love every single one, it’s fun to be exposed to books I might not pick up otherwise. (We’re also very loose about deadlines and rules, since we’re an online group — so someone can come back to a discussion much later and still be able to share opinions, which helps take the pressure off if we’re having a particularly busy month)
I love when you connect with people through books. It’s why I started book blogging. And I’m so lucky to have found blogging friends like you that share a similar love of books. Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving this week! 😀
Thank you! I really do appreciate you and all the wonderful people I’ve met through blogging! And I agree, that’s why I got involved in the first place — it’s so special to have people share book love with! Happy Thanksgiving!
Yes! One of my favorite parts about book blogging and belonging to a book club is the reading recommendations I get. It’s always fun to discover a book you love that you wouldn’t have read if it hadn’t been for someone else’s recommendation.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

Absolutely – I choose books on my own that I’m curious about or feel confident that they’ll interest for one reason or another, so it’s always great to get exposure to other books… especially when they work out well!
Great selection! There are a couple on here I hope to read soon.
Thanks! And I hope you enjoy any books that you end up reading!
