Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Books I Was Super Excited to Get My Hands on but Still Haven’t Read.
I know I have a tendency to buy (and even pre-order) books by favorite authors as soon as a new book becomes available, but these book can often end up sitting on my shelf for months (or longer). And sometimes, I’ll stumble across a mention of an older book and feel like I MUST HAVE IT right away… and once again, the book ends up sitting on my shelf for months (or years), just waiting to be read.
Here are ten I was in a hurry to buy… but still haven’t gotten around to reading.

- The Prisoner’s Throne by Holly Black
- Hemlock Island by Kelley Armstrong
- Needful Things by Stephen King
- Mrs. Everything by Jennifer Weiner
- And Put Away Childish Things by Adrian Tchaikovsky
- Starling House by Alix E. Harrow
- Gilded by Marissa Meyer
- Green Rider by Kristen Britain
- Time’s Convert by Deborah Harkness**
- Diana: Her True Story by Andrew Morton
**As I was putting together this post, I reminded myself that a 5th book in the All Souls series is coming out this summer, so it’s about time I finally read #4, Time’s Convert… and so as of this week, at long last, I’m doing it!
What books are on your list this week?
If you wrote a TTT post this week, please share your link!
Haha – I go through this too, Lisa! I bought The Lincoln Highway, dying to read it and it’s still unopened on my Kindle. I’d be curious to see what you think of Mrs. Everything when you get to it. I read it a couple years ago and remember it as an okay read. I may not be the audience for her books! Have a great Tuesday 🙂
I’ve really like all of the Jennifer Weiner books I’ve read in the past few years, and I remember thinking this one sounded really interesting… no reason why I haven’t read it yet!
The old phrase “So many books…” comes to mind 🙂
I am exactly the same way. Birds of a feather and all that. Sigh. But what’s better than being surrounded by books, read and unread…always there in case you need them.
So true! At least we know we’ll never run out of books to read!
And Put Away Childish Things sounds good.
I’ve had such good luck with this author’s novellas. I definitely was excited to get this one… and really need to just sit and read it.
I haven’t read any of these! I do have an Illumicrate edition of Starling House and wanted to read it so bad. I haven’t read it yet… surprise surprise. haha
Oh, I bet the Illumicrate edition is really pretty! I was so excited to get this book — have loved everything I’ve read so far by this author. Maybe this summer, finally. 🙂
Yes, it’s so pretty!! 🙂 I hope you get to it this summer!
Fun list, there’s quite a few on there I want to read too. I didn’t participate this week because that would literally be my whole bookshelf 😂
Haha, I understand and can relate! Way too many unread books staring at me from my shelves… when will I ever catch up?
that’s it exactly, isn’t it! 😂
Fab list! I loved Gilded! Hope you get to them soon!
Gilded sounds amazing! I know I’ve seen great reviews… so maybe soon?
Green Rider is an excellent fantasy. I really loved that one. Haven’t read any of the others, though I’m eager to read Starling House. And the cover and title of And Put Away Childish Things makes me want to check that one out, too. 😀
Green Rider is high on my list of series to start, and I’d really like to do it soon. I keep hearing such good things!
And Put Away Childish Things is short and good, go for it! 😏
I’m excited to read it! I’ve loved all the others novellas I’ve read by him.
Highly recommend Green Rider 😄
Your blog is probably one of the places I heard about Green Rider! So many people have been praising the series — I’m excited to start it.
What a neat list! I haven’t read Diana or Needful Things yet. I’ve wandered away from Stephen King in the last few years. Hope you get to read these soon.

It’s been a few years for me too since I’ve read Stephen King, but for a while, I would pick up a new paperback edition of a King book before every summer vacation, which is how I ended up with Needful Things. 🙂
Great list Lisa, I must catch up with those Holly Black books myself–I loved the Cruel Prince books
I’m going to need to reread The Stolen Heir before I read the newer one, because I don’t remember the plot at all. Honestly, it didn’t make a big impression, which was a letdown since I loved the Cruel Prince series. Still, I’m hoping that reading both books in a row will make the full story come together.
I have the worst luck reading books I buy. I figure since I own them, what’s the rush?😂
Yes! My sentiments exactly. But I still keep buying them like it’s urgent or something…
It’s the same with me for Marissa Meyer! I bought a few of her books after enjoying Cinder, but a lot of them sit unread on my shelves (Winter–which I swear I’ll get to eventually, and Heartless). 😭
I loved the whole Cinder series, but couldn’t get into Heartless (which, fortunately, was a library book rather than a purchase). I have high hopes for Gilded though!
I love Armstrong’s mystery novels, but HEMLOCK ISLAND just wasn’t for me. Too violent and gory. Plus, I didn’t like the characters. So, yeah. I hope you like it more than I did and all these others too.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

Thanks for the warning about Hemlock Island! I’ve been on a roll with this author’s books lately, but it does sound very different from the ones I’ve been reading. Have a great week!
Starling House could have been added to my list. I couldn’t resist that book cover!
I agree, it’s a great cover! And I’ve really liked everything else I’ve read by this author… just haven’t had the right moment to start it yet, I guess.
