Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Authors I’d Love a New Book From.
The prompt includes: These could be authors that have passed away, who have retired from writing, who have inexplicably gone quiet, or who might jut not be able to keep up with how quickly you read their books!)
My focus is on authors whose next book I’m eagerly awaiting. And while I can definitely come up with some no-longer-with-us authors I’d love another book from (hi, Jane Austen and L. M. Montgomery!), I’m sticking with living, breathing, writing authors for this list.
My ten are:
- Diana Gabaldon — of course! Waiting for the 10th Outlander book…
- Amy Stewart — She’s shifted her focus to non-fiction and artwork, but I’d love more in the Kopp Sisters series (or any new fiction, for that matter).
- Becky Chambers — I haven’t found any info on what her next book will be, but I’ve loved every single book of hers so far.
- Travis Baldree — I can’t wait to see what he writes next!
- Lily Chu – I really enjoyed the audiobooks she’s released up to now, and hope there will be a new one soon.
- Trish Doller – I loved the Beck Sisters trilogy (which I read last year), but haven’t been able to find info on whether there are any new books coming up.
- Susanna Kearsley — On the other hand, there is a new book on the way for this author! But while it has a 2024 release date in the UK, we readers here in the US will have to wait until 2025.
- Sarah Gailey — I don’t see any new books since 2022, and I’d love to read whatever they write next.
- Fredrik Backman — Another author who doesn’t have a next book listed yet on Goodreads! Whatever it is, and whenever it arrives, I’m sure it’ll be great.
- George R. R. Martin — I mean, I debated whether to even include GRRM on this list, because honestly, I’m not sure I even care any more. Will book #6 ever actually be released??
What authors made your list this week?
If you wrote a TTT post this week, please share your link!
I was looking at my Game of Thrones books yesterday and debating whether to get rid of them or not. If he ever releases the next book, I will want to reread them but will he??????
I’m feeling really skeptical about the series ever being finished… although I also haven’t parted with my books!
I’m eagerly awaiting Becky Chambers next book, too. I hope it will be announced soon.
Martin was also on my list. I don’t think it’s likely he’ll write that last book anytime soon, but I hope I’m wrong about that.
Here is my <a href=”https://lydiaschoch.com/top-ten-tuesday-authors-id-love-a-new-book-from/“>Top Ten Tuesday.</a>
I’m wondering if he’ll write it ever!! I’m starting to feel doubtful.
Travis Baldree! 100 times yes!
I assume he’ll have something new before long — can’t wait!
Jim Butcher for me but he’s at least working on the next book.
Is he? The next Dresden? I’ll definitely read it, although it’s been so long that I’m sure I’ll be kind of lost. (You’ll have to give me a refresher)
I only recently got into Becky Chambers but I can honestly agree with you on more from her! & Lol I get you not wanting to include R. R. Martin. Him and Patrick Rothfuss are on my “If they ever complete their series I’ll finish them but I also won’t be holding my breath anymore” list 😂
Patrick Rothfuss is one I know I should read, but I decided years ago not to even start until there was a definite release date for book #3. Still waiting!!
Two more books that are sitting on my shelf taking up space 🤔
yeah you know what? Good move! It’s not like we don’t have other books to read in the meantime hahaha
I’m wondering what Backman will do next?!
I’m sure it’ll be terrific, whatever it is!
I’m convinced we’re not getting book 6 from GRRM (even though I really want it to come). I think he has it written, the series all done, but the expectations from everyone prevents him sharing it with the world.
I’m not sure I believe that he’s secretly finished, but I do tend to agree that it may never see the light of day. It must seem like a thankless task at this point — no matter if it’s good or not, no one will be happy.
I really want Tamora Pierce!
Aaaaaah, can’t believe I didn’t think of Tamora Pierce! I love her books so much! I’ve been holding off on reading Tempests & Slaughter, hoping that a 2nd book would be on the way… but no luck so far.
Yes! Every once in a while, I check to see if there’s a sequel to that and there just seems to be no news. I think her health was bad in 2019, and perhaps she just hasn’t really recovered. 😦
That’s too bad. Her books are all so wonderful.
I think you could be right on that one. Or at least that she may have had other personal things that have come up that have interfered with her writing. I used to follow her somewhat online but then I got distracted by other things, so I can’t remember. I know she had an intention to give us more about Numair’s early years.
I have a Diana Gabaldon book on my shelf and I am so daunted by the size of thing. How does one even hold it up for in bed reading? Ha!
Haha, especially when you get to the 5th and 6th books in the series, which are over 1000 pages!! Good thing ebooks are an option 🙂
Neat list. I have part of the Outlander series here but haven’t read them yet.

Highly recommended!!
Sarah Gailey is a good one. There was that one year where they had three new releases, but nothing since!
I wish there were more books in the hippo series! Those were excellent.
I just finished reading Legends & Lattes and totally hope Baldree writes many more books, too. And I absolutely love Lily Chu and Trish Doller! I want more books from them as well. 😀
Maybe this year for all!! That’s something to hope for. 🙂
Hahaha yeah it’ll be a miracle if grrm ever publishes the winds of winter!! Definitely want more books from backman!!!
Bakman’s books are always so good! I suppose while we wait, I could go back and read the ones I’ve missed 🙂
I’m almost done with reading A Dance With Dragons, then I need to finish watching the GOT tv show, but I’m majorly trying to stop myself from thinking of the books to tv comparisons of how this is all going to end! 🙈
Hi. I’ve just released a five-part series. It’s a romantic drama set in Europe and Africa with lots of ups and downs, heartbreak, love, friendships and a lot of plot twists. It’s called Raw Mistakes and is available on Amazon.
Thanks for sharing!
