Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2023.
I always love this TTT topic — it’s fun to look back and appreciate how many new authors I’ve tried, especially when there are more of their books for me still to read!
I actually “met” more than 10 new-to-me authors in 2023, and it’s hard for me to narrow down the list… but here are ten whose books I really enjoyed.
1) Author: Trish Doller. Books read:

2) Author: Elissa Sussman. Books read:

If you wrote a TTT post, please share your link!

This is a really fun list! I completely forgot about Heather Fawcett😬 But Travis Baldree was such a nice surprise.
Travis Baldree’s books were so amazing! Before reading Legends & Lattes, I was skeptical… so much hype, how can the book live up to it? But it did!!
Seeing the covers together for ones with multiple makes it clear how much some authors have a specific design aesthetic they end up using! The ones for Annabel Monaghan kind of made me laugh because it almost looks like the arm on the woman on the right cover is extending into the left cover to the other woman. xD
Here’s my post for this week!
Ha, true, the covers look like one extended scene! I wonder if her next book will fit in with the big picture 🙂
Have you read The Invisible Husband of Frick Island by Oakley?
Oh my… I did read The Invisible Husband, so I guess Oakley wasn’t new to me after all!! 🙂 I completely forgot about it while putting my list together (although I did really enjoy it).
Sorry! I didn’t intend to call you out!!! 😂😂😂
Hahaha, it’s all good — I appreciate the reminder!!
Until her latest book I absolutely LOVED Elizabeth Acevedo. The new one….ick…. lol Good stuff here this week. I did not post this time.
I’ve heard mixed things about Acevedo’s newest — maybe she’s better in YA? I don’t think I’m going to read Family Lore, given the not great reviews.
If you aren’t into “magic vaginas” I’d steer clear… but that’s just my opinion
Her YA was superb
LOL, nope, that doesn’t sound like it’s for me!
Oakley is an author I’ve wanted to try. Glad you enjoyed her books.
I have one more of her books on my shelf (You Were There Too), so that’ll probably be the next one I try!
Great list! I love Elizabeth Acevedo and Nora Goes Off Script is on my TBR. Here’s mine: https://susanlynknits.wordpress.com/2024/01/30/top-ten-tuesday-2023-new-to-me-authors/
My daughter and I both loved the Nora book!
We love a lot of the same authors (Acevedo, Baldree, LaValle). I’ve put Nora Goes Off Script and Don’t Forget to Write on my TBR list. Thanks for the recommendations!
I hope you enjoy them!
I am delighted that Elizabeth Acevedo will be coming to Houston in April, and I will really get to meet her then!
That’s fantastic!! I loved both books I read by her!
Yes to Trish Doller. I loved that series. It’s always great to find new authors that you really enjoy. I’ve added a few to my list this past month as well.
Have you read anything else by Trish Doller? I’m wondering if there are other books by her that I should try.
Not yet. I’ve only read those three.
I’m glad you found so many new-to-you authors to love this year! I’ve read one book each from Baldree, Acevedo, and LaValle.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
