Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is a Genre Freebie — which means we all pick a genre to focus on and build a top 10 list from there.
I bounced back and forth a bit, but decided to go with celebrity memoirs for my freebie theme. Not that I’m a huge celebrity follower! I rarely care about movie stars or other fancy folks… but I do find myself drawn to interesting life stories or memoirs that give insights into something I’m interested in. When I started this list, I was actually surprised by how many I’ve read!
Here are 10 memoirs I’ve enjoyed in recent years (with links to my reviews, if any):

- Waypoints by Sam Heughan
- Beyond the Wand by Tom Felton
- Spare by Prince Harry
- I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy
- Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies by Michael Ausiello
- I Want To Be Where the Normal People Are by Rachel Bloom
- Becoming by Michelle Obama
- The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher
- Life by Keith Richards
- Broken Music by Sting
Plus, here are a few on my TBR list that I hope to get to eventually:

Do you have any favorite memoirs to recommend? What genre did you feature for this week’s TTT?
If you did a TTT post this week, please share your link!

Great idea for this week! I have yet to read a celebrity memoir but I’m Glad My Mom Died was picked by one of my friends in our IRL book club. We’ll get around to it eventually. There’s so many of these I want to read as well though. Tim Felton, Alan Rickman, and Carrie Fisher, in particular. Thanks for the reminder to get these on a TBR shelf! 💚
I’m Glad My Mom Died would make a really book group pick — there’s so much to unpack and discuss. (I listened to the audiobook, narrated by the author — just terrific).
Yes, I heard that she narrated the audiobook too and it’s hard to listen to because you can really hear and feel her emotions. Gives me chills just thinking about it.
Fab topic! Loved Tom Feltons!
It was so good! I loved all the photos too. 🙂
Finding Me is soooo good!
I’m excited to check it out!
I feel the same way about celebrities and celebrity memoirs.
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
I was surprised to realize how many I’d read!
I’ve only read McCurdy’s and Obama’s. I wouldn’t mind reading the rest of them. I hope you love the ones you haven’t read yet.
Thank you! I think I’ll try to get to Elton’s in the next few months.
I haven’t read many memoirs but Lauren Graham’s Talking as Fast as I Can really inspired me to pick up more memoirs.
Oh, that’s one I forgot about, but I’d love to read! Thanks for mentioning it!
I hope you love it!
What a fun idea for this week’s TTT! I don’t read a lot of celebrity memoirs, but I wouldn’t mind checking out the Andrew McCarthy one! I had such a crush on him back in the day. ;D
I think there are a few other “brat pack” memoirs too… 🙂
I don’t read a lot of memoirs, but Carmen Maria Machado’s In the Dream House really made an impact on me, especially the audiobook.
Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll check it out.
I have several of these on my TBR as well!
Great topic! I can spot 6 books on your list I already have in my wishlist. But some great memoirs I can recommend: ‘Reckoning’ by Magda Szubanski, and ‘The Good Girl Stripped Bare’ by Tracey Spicer. There were others which were oaky: ‘Yes Please’ by Amy Poehler, ‘Bossypants’ by Tina Fey, ‘Bonkers’ by Jennifer Saunders, and ‘It Wasn’t Meant To Be Like This’ by Lisa Wilkinson. I know there are more, but I’ll have to go hunting through my collection of books.
Thanks for all the recommendations! I know my daughter really enjoyed Bossypants and Yes Please 🙂
I’m not much for celebrities either. My husband and I did listen to Bono’s memoir, though, and we both really liked it. His voice is lovely and it was fun to learn about his life.
Happy TTT!

Oh, I bet Bono’s book would be great to listen to!! Another for my TBR list. 🙂
He has such a great voice! It’s very soothing to listen to him talk. My 14yo daughter was in the car while we were listening to his book on a long road trip with us and it put her right to sleep. She said his voice was like a lullaby. Ha ha.
I listened to the Matthew Perry one and read the Elton John one.
Do you recommend them? I think I’m going to listen to Elton’s sometime soon.
The Matthew Perry one was SUPER jarring, maybe because he read it himself. I just had no idea what life he had. I would definitely recommend it but be prepared for emotions. Elton John is a bit of all over the place but it was good too. It actually put the Rocketman movie in perspective for me 🙂
Oh looks like Taron Everton and Elton John read it so I may just check it out too.
Wow you have read a lot! I would definitely read some of these, especially Alan Rickman’s.
I’m pretty drawn to that one too.
I rarely ever go for memoirs and the like – I think I’ve only read about two or three in my entire life, lol. But Tom Felton’s and Alan Rickman’s diaries seem interesting. And I’m Glad My Mom Died and The Glass Castle both made me very emotional.
I’ve read a few others by non-celebrities too, and those can be even more interesting!
I loved Becoming. I hope you enjoy the ones you haven’t read yet!
I loved it too! I listened to the audiobook — loved hearing her narrate her own story!
