Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Favorite Heroines. This felt like a familiar topic to me, but it looks like it’s been many years since I put together a similar list, and by now I have plenty of new ones to highlight!
Here are ten of my favorites (hint: the first one will not be a surprise!):

- Claire Fraser – Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon
- Mercy Thompson – Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs
- October Daye – October Daye series by Seanan McGuire
- Erin, Mac, Tiffany and KJ – Paper Girls graphic novels by Brian K. Vaughan
- Zinnia Gray – A Spindle Splintered by Alix E. Harrow
- Mika Moon – The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna
- Marra – Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher
- Beatrice Clayborn – The Midnight Bargain by C. L. Polk
- Jane Ellsworth – Glamourist Histories series by Mary Robinette Kowal
- Sunny Nwazue – The Nsibidi Scripts series by Nnedi Okorafor
Who are your favorite heroines?
If you wrote a TTT post, please share your link!
A greta list. I agree with you on Claire Fraser. I would include on my list Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables, Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice and Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series.
Those are all great choices!
Mika Moon! Love her!
Me too! 🙂 I hope there’s going to be a follow-up book.
There are so many great female characters in books at the moment. I love this list.
Thanks! I had so many to choose from! 🙂
Claire is one of my absolute favorite characters. If I ever have a daughter, her name will be Claire. I love Mercy Thompson, too!!
Ah, that’s so sweet about naming a future daughter Claire! And I’m glad to know another Mercy fan too. 🙂
Mercy Thompson made my list, too! And I’m looking forward to ‘meeting’ Mika Moon very soon. 😀
Mercy is the best! Can’t wait for the next new book!
I still need to finish Paper Girls! I watched the show and was so bummed that it got canceled prematurely! It was an amazing show in my opinion and I wanted to see it end the right way. Did you ever watch it? Great list ❤
Whaaaaaat? NO!! I can’t believe it got cancelled — it was so good!! The books are definitely worth checking out. Love those girls!
Shades of Milk and Honey reminds me that I bought a copy (probably after reading your review) but haven’t read it yet. Thanks for the reminder!
Any time! 🙂 My book group picked it for one of our discussions for later this year, so I’ll have a great excuse for a re-read…
