Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2021.
There were way more than 10, and it’s so hard to choose favorites… but I’ll go with these ten, whose books I really enjoyed:

- Julia Quinn (I read ALL the Bridgerton books!)
- Rosie Danan
- Sarah Morgenthaler
- Crystal Maldonado
- Kristen O’Neal
- C. Robert Cargill
- Adrian Tchaikovsky
- William Kent Krueger
- Everina Maxwell
- Emiko Jean
What new-to-you authors did you discover in 2021? Any particular favorites? Do we have any in common?
Please share your link so I can check out your top 10!
Great list! I’ve only read one of these! ❤
It was fun to think back and realize how many new-to-me authors I tried last year!
I always need to trawl through my reading challenge to see!!!
I discovered Brandon Sanderson in 2021. I’ve been obsessed ever since.
That’s awesome! Which book did you start with, and do you have any you particularly recommend? I haven’t read anything of his yet.
I’ve heard good things about One Day All This Will Be Yours!

It was so much fun!
I loved Winter’s Orbit. I’ve read all the Bridgerton books but still prefer Georgette Heyer 😃😃
I love Georgette Heyer too, although I have plenty more of her books yet to read. Do you have favorites?
I love Arabella, Faro’s Daughter and Sylvester. Actually, I love so many of them it would be quicker to list my non favourites 😀
Ha, that’s good to know! I don’t think I’ve read any of these three — maybe Arabella, but I feel like she has a lot of books with a character name as the title, and I’m having a hard time keeping straight which ones are which… actually, just checked, and I’ve read Arabella! I know I have a copy of Faro’s Daughter somewhere, so maybe I’ll bump that one up on my list of priorities to read!
I’ve heard great things about Sarah Morgenthaler’s books – I need to check them out soon! My TTT
They’re very light and a little silly, but nice and entertaining!
sometimes that’s exactly what we need!
I haven’t read any of these authors – yet! But I think all of these books are on my wish list or TBR mountain. I really want to read Fat Chance, Charlie Vega especially. The Tourist Attraction keeps calling to me too. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks! Fat Chance Charlie Vega was one I might have missed, but my daughter pushed me to read it, and I”m so glad I did!
Good list. William Kent Kruger is the only one I know–and I just “discovered” him last year via that book.
I’ve now read one more (Ordinary Grace), and thought it was excellent!
Good to hear.
Kudos for limiting your list to just ten! If I’d done this week’s TTT my list would have been much longer than that. 🙂 Krueger and Danan are two favs of mine from your list.
Nice to know we share some favorites! 🙂 Yes, I could have gone way past 10… I had to be a little ruthless while putting together my list.
I’m so excited for Crystal Maldonado’s new book!
Ooh, I didn’t know there was a new one on the way!! I’ll need to track that one down!
I also read C. Robert Cargill for the first time. I want to go back and read Sea of Rust now😁
OK, now I realize that I grabbed the wrong book cover for my post! I didn’t actually read Sea of Rust — I read Day Zero (and loved it). Guess I need to read Sea of Rust now too!
Great list! I also read Sea of Rust last year, was an interesting read!
I recently got Winter’s Orbit, that one sounds good!
My post!
I actually included the wrong C. Robert Cargill book! I read Day Zero (and loved it), but I do want to read Sea of Rust. 🙂 Winter’s Orbit was so good — I hope you enjoy it!
Haha, I don´t know that one!
Day Zero was so good!!!
I love the Cargill books – Sea of Rust and Day Zero.
Lynn 😀
I actually picked the wrong cover for this post — I read (and loved) Day Zero, and I really want to read Sea of Rust!
I’ve read Emiko Jean as well. Also Sarah Morgenthaler, but I wasn’t a fan of The Tourist Attraction, mainly because of the characters. The first Bridgerton book is still waiting to be read by me.

I don’t necessarily love all the characters in the Morgenthaler books, but I do love the setting! I find the male characters a bit interchangeable.
