Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Spring Cleaning Freebie (for example, books you’re planning to get rid of for whatever reason, book’s you’d like to clean off your TBR by either reading them or deciding you’re not interested, books that feel fresh and clean to you after winter is over, etc.).
My Goodreads “want-to-read” shelf is up to 813 (!!!!) books, and I swear, I have no idea how it got so out of hand. For this week’s TTT, I’m listing 10 books from my to-read shelf that I don’t know why I added in the first place — time to say good-bye! Overall, this is a good reminder to go in and do some major pruning.
Onward we go! My top 10 are:

- Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli & Aisha Saeed
- Home for Erring and Outcast Girls by Julie Kibler
- A Stranger Came Ashore by Hollie Hunter
- Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris
- The Brideship Wife by Leslie Howard
- Snowflake AZ by Marcus Sedgwick
- The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley
- Being Mrs Darcy by Lucy Marin
- When Life Gives You Lemons by Fiona Gibson
- Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison
Since I don’t remember why I thought I’d want to read these in the first place, I think they all can go… unless someone can convince me otherwise. If you’ve read any of these books and think I should give them a try, please let me know!
What bookish spring cleaning is on your mind? Please share your link so I can check out your top 10!
You could use Yes No Maybe So to resolve questions…
Ha, that’s true!
I haven’t read any of these, so I say let them go! I have WAY more books on my Goodreads shelf, they’ve been piling up for years, lol. The idea of pruning is rather daunting!
I go through and prune every couple of years, but somehow the numbers creep right back up!
Great list! Yes No Maybe So is one I’ve removed from my TBR as well–I’m not as interested in the books Albertalli co-writes with other authors.
I haven’t read that many of her books, but I’ve been veering away from YA reading lately, so I can’t feel too much interest in this one.
Good for you for knowing your limits!

I’m not sure if I know my limits, or if my limits have been imposed on me! 🙂 Not enough time to get to everything!
I definitely have a lot of books on my TBR that I don’t remember why I added them.

I think I add things whenever I read an interesting review on another blog, but then never get around to following up.
Ha ha same!
Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison is a slow book, and I remember plodding along and rolling my eyes. But then midway, it does get interesting… So, while I don’t want to be the TTT kill (😂) , I hope a few years down the line you give it a try after all! (Or may be they’ll make a show on it and that’ll be loads better.)
Ha ha, a show would be the easier approach! At some point while I was reading more urban fantasy, someone must have recommended this one. I can’t see myself starting yet another series, but who knows? Maybe eventually.
I also removed Yes No Maybe So, lost my interest haha!
My post!
I’ve been reading less YA in general lately, and this one just doesn’t grab me at this point.
Same for me! Especially less YA contemporaries!
That’s an impressive TBR pile! Mine was down to about 200 books at the end of last year and now I’m nearing 500 again … every book just looks so good, unfortunately. Always good to take the time and weed the list down, though!
The number keep creeping back up, no matter what I do!
wanted to read The Watchmaker of Filigree Street at one point too but have since lost interest.
Yes… I don’t even know why I added it — was it a time-travel book maybe? I don’t think I care enough to bother checking.
I’ve been interested in reading Dead Witch Walking for years now and still haven’t picked it up yet!
Maybe you’ll get to it before I do!
