Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Books On My Summer 2019 TBR.
I’m mixing some light reads with some dark and creepy stories, as well as a book group book and a book that’s been on my nightstand for over a year now. Plus, I’m finally planning to start a series that’s been on my TBR for far too long (The Glamourist Histories), and also plan to read a more recent book (a sequel to a book I loved) by the same author. Wheeeee! I love summer reading…
- Reticence (The Custard Protocol, #4) by Gail Carriger
- In the Shadow of Spindrift House by Mira Grant
- The Toll by Cherie Priest
- Circe by Madeline Miller
- The Bookshop on the Shore by Jenny Colgan
- Shades of Milk and Honey (The Glamourist Histories, #1) by Mary Robinette Kowal
- The Fated Stars (Lady Astronaut, #2) by Mary Robinette Kowal
- Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett
- The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
- What Should Be Wild by Julia Fine
What are you planning to read this summer? Please share your links!
Shades of Milk and Honey was a lovely read, I hope you enjoy it and all the other books you listed here Lisa! 🙂
My TTT
Thanks! I actually read Shades of Milk and Honey years ago, but never continued the story and by now have forgotten everything but the general concept. I’ve always meant to go back to it!
Great list! I hope you enjoy Circe, Foundryside and Shades of Milk and Honey. 😀 I want to get to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo soon, too.
Thanks! I’m really looking forward to all of these — just hope I can stick to a plan. 🙂
Circe and Evelyn Hugo are two I’m really interested in checking out. I don’t think I’ve seen a bad review of either. Hope you get a chance to read all these and that they are amazing. Happy summer!
Same here — everything I’ve heard about these two books has been so positive. Have a great summer!
Circe and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo are wonderful!
I’m so excited to read both! I absolutely loved Song of Achilles, as well as everything else I’ve read by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
Circe is supposed to be really good, and that’s on my TBR, too (though, not for the summer, unfortunately). I didn’t realize Mira Grant had a new book coming out! 😮 I just finished Into the Drowning Deep. I’ll definitely have to check out In the Shadow of Spindrift House! Happy reading.
Here’s my TTT post.
How did you like Into the Drowning Deep? I loved it. 🙂 Shadow of Spindrift House is a novella, but I’ll take Mira Grant at any length!
I didn’t love it, but I enjoyed it. I have a really hard time switching off my science brain when reading, because she talked about science a lot, so it kept turning back on. xD And scientifically, there were so many holes that I could’ve slapped it on a sandwich and called it Swiss cheese. 😉 I think watching movies, it’s easier for me to just conk out and not think too much about it.
I just love Mira Grant/Seanan McGuire’s writing style, though. It’s so pretty. And the suspense was really well done, I thought! Kept me wanting to read more. Also, Jillian is a treasure, as are Michi and Jacques. xD
Have heard really good things about Circe!! Happy reading!!
Circe is my book group’s pick for July, and I’m really excited to read it! Have a great summer reading!
Several people have mentioned The Toll this week. I’m getting so curious about it myself.
My TTT.
I’ve read and enjoyed other books by the same author, so I’m definitely looking forward to it!
I hope you enjoy The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo! I really enjoyed that one. I have had Circe for awhile but still need to read it. Hopefully sometime this year since I’ve heard so many good things about it.
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Evelyn Hugo! I’ve read everything else by the same author and really enjoy her writing, so I’m excited to finally start this one.
Excellent list! I see a couple of books I’m dying to read, but I’m not sure I’ll read them over the summer. Circe and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo are must reads for me😁
I’ve had them on various to-read lists for far too long at this point!
I’m so intrigued to see what you make of Seven Husbands. I loved it!
I’ve heard such good things!
Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo may get my attention thanks to loving Daisy Jones and the Six by her. Interesting list.
Daisy Jones was amazing!
Yay! Foundryside! I hope you love it. 🙂 Looking forward to your thoughts on the new Mira.
Can’t wait!
Ooh great tbr! Hope you like evelyn hugo and circe 😀
Looking forward to both!
Ooh, I’m going to have to look up that Mira Grant, I don’t know anything about it… My wife especially will be keen, probably!
I just love Mira Grant stories! So disturbing, and so delicious!
