Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is a movie freebie — basically, anything at all so long as it has something to do with movies.
My movie-related TTT is about my movie equivalent of comfort food — the movies I love, for various reasons, that I can and do watch over and over and over again. All of these make me happy, in different ways, but I’ve yet to get tired of any of them.
1) Love Actually
2) The Harry Potter movies
3) Brigadoon
4) Serenity
5) Hair
6) The Princess Bride
7) The Lord of the Rings movies
8) Bride & Prejudice
9) Monty Python and the Holy Grail
10) A Knight’s Tale
There are actually quite a few more I could list, but I guess I really should stop at ten.
But wait! A bonus round!
Looking at my DVD collection, I really want to include these, which aren’t movies, but I’ve watched them a zillion times anyway, so how can I not mention them? Here are three TV collections that always make me happy:
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer
- Firefly
- Battlestar Galactica

Great list! I’ve watched several of these over and over too, especially Serenity. I love that movie and the show and everything about it. A Knight’s Tale cracks me up these days. I saw a meme a while back that had a picture of it that said something like “What are King Robert Baratheon, Vision, and Wash doing with the Joker?”
And it’s so cool to see Brigadoon on your list! Some days I feel like the only person who even knows it exists. I was totally named after heather flowers in the song “The Heather on the Hill”
Browncoats unite! I love Serenity and Firefly so much. 🙂 It is so cool that you were named for the song from Brigadoon! That movie is so swoon-worthy. I really need to watch it again over the holidays. 🙂
I bought a shirt that said Browncoats on the front and “I aim to misbehave” on the back at my first convention ever. My husband asked what it was and my jaw just dropped open. It was mandatory viewing that night.
I wish I could get my husband to watch! He sat through the 1st episode of Firefly and decided that was enough. Luckily, I have other friends who are die-hard fans and enjoy geeking out with me!
He’s normally a bit of a nerd so it was shocking that he’d never seen it.
I still mourn the loss of Firefly! Such an amazing series. The Princess Bride and Monty Python(several of them) are definitely go-to’s for when I need a pick me up. This is a great list 🙂
Thanks! I just rewatched all of Firefly earlier this year, when I introduced my son to the series. My daughter and I make a point of watching Serenity at least once a year too. 🙂
The Princess Bride and LOTR are on my list this week too. I haven’t thought about Brigadoon in years, I remember loving it as a kid, such a romantic story.
I probably should have included some older musicals too, but Brigadoon is one that has always stayed with me.
I watch the Harry Potter movies all the time! Full marathon is required at least once a year 🙂

I agree! I haven’t sat through a Harry Potter movie from start to end in a while, but the rule of thumb in my house is that if we happen to turn on the TV and HP is on, we watch it!
Me either actually, I need to soon. Yes, we have the same rule in our house!
Amazing list! Here is mine: https://thatbookladyblog.wordpress.com/2016/11/15/top-ten-tuesday-movies-about-music/
Thanks!
Bride & Prejudice was pretty enjoyable. I am a sucker for any kind of P&P adaptation. Great list!
I especially love B&P, maybe because my daughter is really into it too, so it’s something we can enjoy together. 🙂
I have definitely seen the Harry Potter movies more than once… I want to watch the first one every time it’s snowing. 🙂 Great list… a few of these I’ve never even seen before!
Every time it’s snowing? What a great idea! I can imagine how awesome it would be on a snow day (it doesn’t snow where I live!). 🙂
I was just about to ask if you watched Firefly too, and then I got to the end of your post and I saw your television add-ons.
Yay for Buffy AND Firefly! 🙂
Angel too, I suppose, although I haven’t rewatched that one nearly as much. 🙂
No, I only love Angel because of what it represents in context to Buffy. haha
Yeah, overall I don’t love Angel the way I love Buffy, but there are certain episode and scenes that are pretty amazing.
My biggest issue was not being able to by Cordy and Angel as a couple. I think that will always shadow my feelings of the show. But it was really good, particularly the first and second season. (Though I love the puppet episode, and I LOVE the episode where they revert to their teen personalities.)
The puppet episode is amazing, and I love the teen personality one as well. And I agree about the romance with Cordy, and I kind of hated the Jasmine storyline too. But there have also been amazing moments, like Angel with baby Connor — oh, and I love the Pylea storyline too.
I did love the Pylea storyline. And I did like the Connor story, even though he’s like Dawn in that fans usually hate him. I also wasn’t a huge fan of Jasmine, though no matter what I see her now she’s always Jasmine. LOL
Great list, with some very different movies on here!
Hair and A Knight’s Tale are some of my favourites too! 🙂
Love Actually makes me so happy, too! It’s so cheery and hopeful for the most part, warms my heart!
That’s exactly how I feel about it… and I think I need a rewatch!
