Happy (almost) Halloween!
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is a Halloween freebie!
I’ve decided to focus on great books to scare or give the willies. To mix things up, I’m highlighting five books that I’ve read, and five from my TBR list:
Icky, squicky, creepy, scary books that I’ve read (with links to my reviews):
NOS4A2 by Joe Hill (review)
The Girl with All the Gifts by M. R. Carey (review)
The Dead Lands by Benjamin Percy (review)
Breed by Chase Novak (review)
Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix (review)
Creepy, chilling, horrifying-sounding books that I really want to read:
Red Moon by Benjamin Percy
Bird Box by Josh Malerman
Wraith by Joe Hill
A Love Like Blood by Marcus Sedgwick
Dusk or Dark or Dawn or Day by Seanan McGuire

I don’t know if I’d read any of these! I’m such a wimp!
I think they are all pretty intense, so if that’s not your thing, you’re better off staying away! 🙂
Great list!! I got the Girl with all the gifts for my bday and I can’t wait to read it 😋 – Trang
Ooh, it’s so good! I hope you enjoy it!
Ohh good choices on your list! The Girl with All the Gifts is great. Bird Box is on my TBR, Horrorstör sounds good and I am about to start The Book of Dead Days by Marcus Sedgwick, so I might give A Love like Blood a read afterwards! Great Top 10. Here’s my TTT.
Thanks! Horrorstor is so much fun — even though parts really are icky and scary, the whole concept and layout makes it really funny too.
Bird Box is one I really want to read!
I’ve heard it’s really super scary, from a friend who’s a horror expert. 🙂 Maybe she’ll lend me her copy.
The Girl With All the Gifts made my list this week too!! I absolutely loved it! 🙂
It really was great! I want to read more by this author.
The Dead Lands sounds really interesting! And I’ve wanted to read NOS4A2 for a while. I haven’t read any Joe Hill books, but I did watch the movie Horns -which I really enjoyed. Great list!
Joe Hill is so, so talented! Everything he writes scares the socks off me. 🙂
Great Top Ten!
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Horrorstor. I need to hurry up and buy a copy!
My Top Ten Tuesday!
It’s really fun, and worth owning a hard copy!
I haven’t read a single one of these! I better get crackin! 😉
That’s how I feel pretty much every Tuesday after reading everyone else’s TTT lists!
Great list, Lisa! I really enjoyed Horrorstör last year, too, and Dusk or Dark or Dawn or Day is also on my TBR – I love me so Seanan McGuire!
I haven’t read a lot of Seanan McGuire, but after Every Heart A Doorway, I’m sold. 🙂
Great List – Check out my TTT at https://nmlifeinwords.wordpress.com/2016/10/26/ttt-oct25/
Thanks!
I’ll have to check these out, omg. They look pretty interesting. I need more horror books in my life haha
Don’t we all? 🙂 Especially at this time of year…
Yes, The Girl With All the Gifts is a great pick for Halloween. Now I’m wondering why I had no zombie books at all on my list.
