Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Bookish Discoveries I Made in 2025, with the prompt New-to-you authors you discovered, new genres you learned you like, new bookish resources you found, friends you made, local bookshops you found, a book club you joined, etc.
I always enjoy taking a moment to reflect on and appreciate new-to-me authors whose books I experienced for the first time… and there were quite a few in 2025!
Here are ten new-to-me authors I read in 2025 — all of whom are authors whose books I’ll be looking for in the future as well:

- Audrey Bellezza and Emily Harding (co-authors)
- Freya Marske
- Mike Gayle
- Richard Osman
- Liz Moore
- Kirsty Greenwood
- Janelle Brown
- Ariel Lawhon
- Rachel Koller Croft
- Kiersten White
Do you have other books by these authors to recommend?
Which new-to-you authors did you discover in 2025?
If you wrote a TTT post, please share your link!

Lawhon is a great author! 📚
I agree! I’ve now read two of her books, and need to read more!
I’m curious about The God of the Woods.
Highly recommended! I kept assuming it wouldn’t be a book for me, then ended up loving it.
I have loved everything that I’ve read by Mike Gayle. I hope you enjoy exploring his back catalogue.
I’m so eager to read more of his books! Now I just need to figure out where to start 🙂
I love Ariel Lawhon, I’ve also read Code Name Helene and it was amazing. I haven’t read most of these, I’m curious about Mike Gayle and Freya Marske.
I just finished Code Name Helene and I’m still processing. Wow, what an incredible woman! I’m going to try to get to I Was Anastasia this year as well. I do want to keep reading more by Mike Gayle and Freya Marske — loved the books by them that I read last year.
Fab list! I love Freya Marske!
That’s awesome! I’ve got my eye on A Marvellous Light — hope to read it this year!
Emma of 83rd Street looks so good! I hope you find many more amazing authors this year 😊.

Thank you! The Emma book was really fun — and I ended up reading the other two Austen retellings by this author pair as well.
I plan to get to God of the Woods and Frozen River this year! Love Osman!! I’m hoping he comes out with another installment this year, but I wonder if it will be another We Solve Murders book!
I’m trying to pace myself, but I have the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Thursday Murder books on hold at the library, and will probably read them the second I get my hands on them! I hope you enjoy God of the Woods and Frozen River — both were excellent!
I’ve read Richard Osman and Kiersten White in the past 🙂

That’s great to hear! I hope to read more by both!
Ahh, Freya Marske’s work is so good! Hope you enjoy more of her work!
Thank you! A Marvellous Light is on my to-read list for this year!
The God of the Woods is on my list to read this year! And I always hear great things about The Frozan River.
Both are excellent!!
You made some wonderful discoveries, thanks for sharing your #TTT
Thank you so much! It always makes me happy to see how many new author have come my way each year 🙂
I’m certain I read new authors last year but currently can’t think of any of them, hahaha.
I don’t think I could come up with a list without referring back to Goodreads and Storygraph!
Im glad you discovered lots of new authors last year. Ariel Lawhon is an author I’ve been meaning to try something by for a while now and I love a retelling so want to check out Cinder House too. I still need to read Lucy Undying but I loved And I Darken by Kiersten White and think her next book sounds incredible 😍 here’s hoping you get to check out, and love, more by all of these authors soon.
Ooh, I’ll check out And I Darken — I wasn’t sure which of Kiersten White’s books to pick up next! Cinder House is so good! I read a library copy, but now I want one to keep!
I never finished the series somehow but the first was an instant favourite for me. I’ve also read Mister Magic but I wasnt a fan of that one unfortunately. I hope you enjoy whatever you pick up next by her. And that you manage to get hold of a copy of Cinder House for your collection 🥰
I was trying to remember Mike Gayle’s book as I added Fredrik Backman to my list and was trying to recall what other authors I’d like to try this year. I learned of Gayle through your review of his book. I can’t remember why, but I always think of his and Backman’s books together.
I can see putting those authors together! I think they both write about connections and human kindness in really down to earth but touching ways. I’m eager to read more by Gayle!
Love of My Afterlife was good fun! I am glad you liked it, too.
It was great! I’m looking forward to her new book!
I loved The Love of my Afterlife and can’t wait to get my hands on her new release this year. Great list 🙂
Thanks! I’m excited for her new book too!
I love Richard Osman! I haven’t read Kiersten White in a while, but I remember loving her The Conqueror’s Saga books.
I’m not familiar with the Conqueror’s Saga books — I’ll have to check them out!
Oh man, I haven’t read any of these! That Liz Moore is on my TBR list and Thursday Murder Club is in the Netflix queue? My list is here if interested 🙂
The Netflix Thursday Murder Club is lots of fun — and the book is even better!
