Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2024.
I did a Top 5 Tuesday post on this same topic at the end of December… but there are so many new-to-me authors I enjoyed in 2024, so why not highlight even more? Check out my previous post, here, and don’t miss the T5T fun with Meeghan Reads!
First, here are the five new-to-me authors I features on my T5T post:

- Carley Fortune — I’ve now read all three of her available novels!
- Ali Brady — Same — three read, eagerly awaiting a new release!
- Meg Shaffer – Read two!
- Emilia Hart – Read one, waiting for her upcoming release in March
- Julie Leong – Read her debut, and hope there are more books soon to come
And now, even more! Here are ten more new-to-me authors I read in 2024 — all of whom are authors whose books I’ll be looking for in the future as well:

- Douglas Preston
- Ayelet Tsabari
- Holly Gramazio
- Ray Nayler
- Sarah Beth Durst
- Toshikazu Kawaguchi
- Katherine Rundell
- Alexa Martin
- Hildur Knutsdottir
- Virginia Heath
Which new-to-you authors did you discover in 2024?

Great list. I still need to read Every Summer After & The Teller of Small Fortunes!!
Both are great! I hope you get a chance to check them out!
I hope so too!!
I read BEFORE THE COFFEE GETS COLD. I appreciate shorter books because sometimes authors don’t need to overdose us on too many words. Ha!
Sometimes, shorter books are exactly what I need!
I’m so curious about The Mountain in the Sea.
It was fascinating! I also read a novella by the same author — strange and so interesting!
Someday I should read The Spellshop.

I recommend it!
I really liked Mountain in the Sea!

Same here! My book group had a great discussion about it.
I really want to read The Tell of Small Fortunes! I should remember to check the library….
It’s such a sweet, lovely read!
I haven’t read any of those, but Husbands is very high on my TBR list. And my sister loves Meg Shaffer.
I loved both of Meg Shaffer’s books, so I’ll definitely be on the lookout for whatever she writes next. The Husbands was so strange, and so much fun!
It looks like you discovered some fantastic authors last year. The only one I’ve also read something by is Emilia Hart but so many of the others are also on my TBR. I’m particularly excited to pick up Teller Of Small Fortunes sometime but I remember The Husbands really catching my eye too. It’s a totally different genre to what I usually pick up but the premise is too unusual too resist 😂 Sarah Beth Durst is also an author I’m determined to finally try this year. Here’s hoping you’ll discover lots of new favourites during 2025 too.
Thank you! The Husbands is one of the strangest books I read last year, but so interesting and so much fun!
I haven’t read THE LOST STORY yet, but I loved THE WISHING GAME. Hopefully, I’ll get to THE LOST STORY sometime this year. Glad you found so many great new authors to love in 2025!
Happy TTT!

I hope you get a chance to check out The Lost Story! I actually read that one first, and loved it. I really enjoyed The Wishing Game too, but The Lost Story was incredible.
Ray Naylor has a new book coming out this year, and I’m hoping to read it😁
Oh, that’s exciting! I’ll have to look for it!
I really want to read The Teller of Small Fortunes! And I’m glad to see Ray Nayler made it to your list because I loved The Tusks of Extinction in 2024 and for that reason I also want to read Douglas Preston’s Extinction too!
My TTT this week.
The Tusks of Extinction was so good! I really enjoyed the Douglas Preston book, even when certain plot twists made me roll my eyes a bit. Definitely an exciting read!
Ahaha now I’m even more curious about it lol 😂I’m glad overall it was enjoyable though!
