Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Books on My Winter 2024-2025 to-Read List.
I’ll have a slew of new releases and ARCs to read from about February onward, but before then, I’m going to try to focus on books I’ve been meaning to get to for a while… with maybe one or two new releases mixed in as well.
My top 10 books on my winter TBR:

- The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley: I keep saying this is a priority read, and yet I still haven’t read it! I’d like to get to it before the end of 2024… but the clock is ticking.
- The Naturalist Society by Carrie Vaughn: A new release from a favorite author! I haven’t seen any chatter about it yet, but it sounds so interesting.
- The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer: Another one I’ve been wanting to get to. I loved this author’s more recent book, The Lost Story.
- Adrift in Currents Clean and Clear by Seanan McGuire: The 10th Wayward Children book will be released in January. I’m always up for another book in this series.
- Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix: Upcoming new release for January. I love the sound of it.
- The Bones Beneath My Skin by TJ Klune: This backlist title is being reissued (with a gorgeous new cover) in Februrary — meanwhile, I have the Kindle version, and can’t wait to dive in.
- The Truth According to Ember by Danica Nava: My library hold is (finally) almost ready!
- Hogfather by Terry Pratchett: It’s been a while since I’ve picked up a Discworld book, but this one seems like a great choice for this time of year!
- Ready or Not by Cara Bastone: I stumbled across a description of this romance, and it caught my attention… and was available from the library when I went looking for it.
- A Darkness Absolute by Kelley Armstrong: This is the 2nd book in the Rockton series; I’m about 50% through with book #1 (City of the Lost), and I know I’ll want to keep going!

The Bones Beneath My Skin is one I’m reading soon!
I’ve had the Kindle version for a while but I’ve been holding off on reading it until closer to when the hardcover arrives… but I may give in and start it sooner. Hope we both enjoy it!
I really ought to read Hogfather sometime.
It’s definitely been a while for me since I read a Discworld book, but I recently came across some people discussing Hogfather, and it sounds amazing (and like something that can be read even without having read a ton of others in the series)
I predict good reading ahead!
I hope so, for all of us!! I’m excited for all the great books I plan to read!
Some interesting sounding titles! Vaughn sounds a bit as if she‘s jumping onto the cozy fantasy bandwagon. But I could be totally wrong, need to check it out…

I’m not at all sure what the tone or subject of the Vaughn book is… but I’ve liked so many of her books, and I’m willing to give this one a try!
I checked, it doesn‘t sound much like a cozy fantasy. And it‘s available on Kindle Unlimited.
I loved The Wishing Game! And Armstrong’s Rockton series is awesome. Happy reading all of these. 😀
I’m close to the end of the first Rockton book now, and I’m completely hooked! I definitely want to continue with the series… but should probably force myself to read other books in between, rather than going straight through. I’m excited for The Wishing Game!
I am almost finished with the audiobook for Wishing Game! It’s been really good. I hope you enjoy all of these!
I’m so glad – can’t wait to start Wishing Game (in fact, maybe I’ll move it up to my next read)! Thanks!
Just finished it and it was so good!! 🙂
Hogfather is sooooo good! I hope you like it!
Thank you! It’s really been a while since I’ve read a Discworld book, but I’ve been wanting to go back!
I really enjoyed Witchcraft for Wayward Girls, and in typical Grady Hendrix fashion, it was not what I expected! Awesome list, I hope you get to read all of these.
Thank you! Sadly, I did not get an ARC of the Hendrix book, but I’m on my library hold list already! 🙂
I really enjoyed THE WISHING GAME. It’s so wholesome! I’m also a big fan of Kelley Armstrong’s mysteries. The Rockton series is great. I’m glad you’re enjoying it.
Happy TTT (on a Thursday)!

Loving Rockton! Just finished the first book, can’t wait to get my hands on the next one! And I’m close to halfway through The Wishing Game at this point — it’s charming!
I want to read that Grady Hendrix book too! I hope you enjoy all these.
Thank you! I hope my library gets the Hendrix book as soon as it’s released 🙂 Hope you enjoy it too!
I’m also quite excited for the new Wayward Children book and I love seeing it on so many people’s winter TBRs! The Naturalist Society sounds interesting, never heard of it before! & I’d like to read The Hogfather eventually too! I need to delve more into Discworld.
It’s been a while for me since I picked up a Discworld book, but it feels like a good time to dive back in, especially for a holiday-themed book!
Yeah, it’s the perfect time. It’s been almost two full years since the first Discworld I read lol and I made a mistake by starting on the first book. Enjoy!
I did that too! I was planning to read them in order, one per month, and quit after the first four 🙂 I did end up reading Hogfather over the weekend… and didn’t love it. It’s quirky and clever, but I just didn’t care very much overall. I think maybe I wasn’t truly in a Discworld frame of mind!
Great list! I’ve heard great things about The Wishing Game. I hope you’ll love all these books when you get to them 🙂

I finished The Wishing Game this past week, and loved it! Thanks so much!
