Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Books From My Past Seasonal TBR Posts I STILL Haven’t Read.
My initial thought was — um… yes, I have those! Don’t we all?
BUT — as I went back through my seaosnal TBR posts, I had to go all the way back to winter 2019/2020 (and doesn’t that feel like another lifetime?) in order to come up with 10 that I (a) haven’t read yet and (b) still do really want to read!
Moving backwards chronologically, my 10 are:
Spring 2022:

The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi
(High priority — I hope to read or listen to this one by the end of August!)
Winter 2021/2022:

Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q Sutanto
Spring 2021:

Ambush or Adore by Gail Carriger

A Twist of Fate by Kelley Armstrong

Gilded by Marissa Meyer
Winter 2020/2021:

One By One by Ruth Ware
Fall 2020:

The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman

Dying With Her Cheer Pants On by Seanan McGuire
Spring 2020:

Red Sky Over Hawaii by Sara Ackerman

The Jetsetters by Amanda Eyre Ward
Winter 2019/2020:

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik
Yes, that’s actually 11 — I couldn’t leave out one from a TBR list that still had two left!
I have to say… I’m a little proud of myself, because having to go back three years to come up with 10 books means that I’ve been pretty good at sticking to my reading plans!! Either that, or I’ve gotten much better at picking books for my TBR that I know I’ll want to read.
For the sake of being complete, I thought I’d also include a look at the books from the same timeframe’s TBR lists that I ended up DNFing. For the books below, I thought I’d want to read them, but for all sorts of reasons, they either didn’t end up holding my interest or didn’t appeal to me enough to see all the way through:

Are there any of my remaining TBR picks (in my top 11) that you’d especially recommend?
If you wrote a TTT post this week, please let me know your freebie topic and share your link!
I hope you love all of these books whenever you may read them!

Thank you! It does feel like it’s a never-ending struggle to keep up!
I have yet to read most of those books too (we seem to have some common ground in our TBR :))
Happy reading when you get to them.
Thank you! It’s so hard to keep up some times…
I highly recommend Gideon, with the caveat that not everyone likes the writing. It’s definitely a divisive book, but one that I really really, really enjoyed!!
I’ve really been wanting to start Gideon, and from what I’ve heard, I think it will be a good fit for me! I even have a copy of Harrow too, so I guess I’m committed!
I’d like to read Gilded and Dial A for Aunties. The only one on your list that I’ve read is Spinning Silver…I liked it a lot.
I’ve been looking forward to Spinning Silver ever since I got it — I really enjoyed Uprooted.
I love Ware, although ONE BY ONE might actually be my least favorite of hers. It still kept me riveted, though!
Happy TTT!

I’ve only read one other of her books and I wasn’t that big a fan, but something about the plot of One by One really attracted me to the book in the first place!
I loved Gilded, Spinning Silver, and Gideon the Ninth! Hopefully you’ll get to them eventually! 😀
That’s great to hear! I’m looking forward to all three, and I know I really should make time soon for Gilded since the sequel is on its way.
Sara Ackerman’s stories are great!
I’ve read two of her books so far and really enjoyed them both — I’m looking forward to this one too!
It’s hard to keep up with reading lists, isn’t it? I’m always falling behind with mine. Love the books on your list. I want to read the Kaiju one, too. 😀
Are you a Scalzi fan? I always love his books!
Gilded is so good, you must read it!!! I’m terrible with tbr’s as I’m such a mood reader so I had plenty to choose from 🤣
I’m mainly a mood reader too, but I’ve been trying hard this past year to at least read my ARCs on time (or thereabouts). Looking forward to finally reading Gilded!
Good luck with getting some of these read. My TTT post is here: https://wordywitterings.com/2022/07/26/ttt-books-that-have-been-lingering-on-my-tbr-pile-for-far-too-long/
Thank you! I really do want to read them all!
I had quite a lot from the last couple of years because I had a big reading slump in 2021 so I went completely off list with a lot of my reading and was just reading whatever I felt like! Prior to last year though, I would generally do quite well on TBR lists, there were usually only a few I carried forward and I always read them eventually even if not in the season initially intended. I hope you enjoy all of these whenever you read them.

Thank you! I’ve fallen behind with my “obligation books” (ARCs, mainly) and feel like I have to stick to a schedule… but in general, I know I’m much happier when I read whatever I want at any given moment!
Oh I always fell behind on my ARCs, I’ve actually not been requesting them over the past six months or so and it’s been very freeing not to have any books I’m obliged to read!
Nice list. I have a lot on my lists of unread. One day it will be different. A Twist of Fate and Gilded caught my eye. Hope you get a chance to read these books soon.
Thank you! I’m hoping to get through the books I’ve committed to for this summer and then start reading according to my whims, no planning!
You’ve reminded me to request Dial A for Aunties again–I had to return it before I really got it started.
I have a paperback that I picked up at a sale… and I keep bringing it with me on trips and then reading other things. I do want to get to it!
Wow!! That’s an amazing job! My mood reading kills my TBR plans. haha! I read Dial A for Aunties last month and I liked it. I still need to read Gideon. I really want to but haven’t taken it off my cart yet! I’m planning for October!
My Top Ten!
I’ve heard such good things about Dial A for Aunties! I much prefer being a mood reader, but then I get bogged down by ARCs and book group commitments and fall behind…
Yes, that has been happening to me a lot lately! I try to only do 2-3 arcs a month so I can read my own books too. Lately, I’ve been committing to too many and have barely had time to get my arcs finished in time! Really slowed down my reading. It’s so hard to say no!! 🤦🏻♀️
I was trying so hard to limit my requests, and then more approvals came through than I really planned for, and now… well, I’m overloaded!! Hoping to catch up over the summer and then keep my options a lot more open. 🙂
Yep! I know, exactly what you mean. I had requested the second book in a series months ago. I had wanted to read the first book and figured this would make me do it. I had like 6 months until the second book released and figured I’d get it done. I never got an approval until last week. It comes out in a few weeks. SO…. crunch time! I need to slow my roll and give myself a couple months this fall to read my own books! Will I though?! It’s so hard to say no! 🙂
I’d love to read Dial A for Aunties too.
And I loved In the Garden of Spite, but I can see how it could lead to a DNF.
I read a few really positive reviews about In the Garden of Spite, and I know some people loved it. I think this was a case for me of absolutely not being in the right mood / headspace for such a dark story.
I hope you enjoy each of these when you get the opportunity to read them!

Thank you so much! I’m looking forward to all of them!
Kaiju and The Rules of Magic are both very good. Sounds like you are doing pretty well with TBRs if you had to go back so far😁
I was surprised, actually! 🙂 I’m excited for Kaiju — I bought a copy as soon as it came out, and have just been too overloaded with ARCs this year to keep up with everything else.
I love your list. I added some of these to my TBR. 😀 I hope you enjoy these when you get to them.

Thank you!!
Gilded ended up being so good! Really recommend it!
That’s great to hear! Looking forward to reading it!
