Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Favorite Places to Read. I actually did this topic as a freebie a few years ago, but I’ll do it again — while most of my answers are the same, it’s still fun to think about where I love to read. (Simplest answer — everywhere!)
Note: Photos are all mine; the illustration are from free web sources.
My new round of top 10 reading spots are:
- My backyard
2. My cozy book room (aka, downstairs TV/hangout space):
3. In a park

4. On an airplane
5. At the beach
6. Any pretty outdoor spot
7. Any place I have to wait

8. At a silent reading party (this photo is taken at a pre-COVID reading party, but I’m hoping eventually the idea of reading in a crowded room with other people won’t feel so strange):
And for audiobooks…
9. On a walk
10. Driving

What a nice backyard you have!
My post: https://lydiaschoch.com/top-ten-tuesday-favourite-places-to-read-2
Thanks! My husband deserves all the credit! He even made a brick reading area for me amidst all the flowers. 🙂
Oh my, am jealous of all that books😂😂😂
No matter how often I purge my shelves, they keep filling back up!!
I can relate to that 😸
I always think I want to read outside and then I’m like, “Ah, sun! Ah, bugs! Ah, wind!” And I go inside. :p
Haha, I get it — I constantly move my reading chair from sun to shade and back again. Fortunately, not too many bugs here!
I do most of my reading on my couch or on my bed. Or occasionally while laying on the living room floor. Most of my audiobooking is done while doing housework, on walks, or while sewing.
My couch and bed are key reading locations too. 🙂 I’ve recently branched out into listening to audiobooks while doing jigsaw puzzles, but my mind tends to wander…
Great list! I love listening to audiobooks in the car, too. Your garden looks lovely, and next time you go to a silent reading party I’d like to join you, please!
That sounds like fun!! I hope the silent reading parties will be back at some point post-COVID. It’s so fantastic to sit and read with a bunch of other people who think reading is the most awesome way to spend time. 🙂
I LOVE your cozy book room! I didn’t post this week. I’ll be back next week. Today I did an extra book review.
Cool, I’ll check it out! I love my cozy book room too… although I sometimes get distracted by wanting to rearrange my books rather than just sitting and reading. 🙂
Oooh, I’ve never heard of a silent reading party! Sounds like my kind of shindig 🙂
Happy TTT!

It’s the perfect way for introverted booklovers to socialize! 🙂
Oh I’d love to go a silent reading party to see what it’s like.
The ones I went to were so much fun! There’s something about sitting in a room with a bunch of other people who are obsessed with reading that made me so, so happy.
Ok I’m freaking out over the private reading party. What? Is that really a thing? 😁
Ha, it’s absolutely a thing!! The first several here were held at a funky hotel downtown in one of their library rooms, with drinks available, benefiting public schools. Later, they moved to an indie bookstore, so no drinks, but still fun.
A reading party? I have never heard of such a thing, but it seems awesom.
When you get the chance, I hope you stop by my post: https://readbakecreate.com/10-books-with-travel-locations-in-their-title/
The reading party idea is so much fun! What could be better than hanging out with other people who love books? 🙂
OMG! How do I get signed up for a silent reading party??? That sounds amazing! I love how you included the pics as well. These look like great reading spot choices.
The silent reading party was such a fantastic idea! And the very first one I attended was hosted by Daniel Handler / Lemony Snicket, which made it extra fun. Looking forward to post-COVID days when this kind of event starts to happen again!
Definitely! We all are looking forward to a sense of normalcy. Hope it comes soon.
I love reading in a park or in my backyard with an iced coffee and pastry beside me.

Ooh, reading outdoors with an iced coffee and pastry sounds like heaven to me!
I love all your graphics including IRL locations! 🙌 Nicely done!
Thanks so much!!
A silent reading party? I’ve never heard of this but I want to go to one!!! Sorry I’ve been absent but I slipped a disc in my back and it’s been agony!
Oh no, I’m so sorry about your back! That sounds awful. Wishing you a speedy recovery!! Yes, silent reading parties are awesome. I hope the recurring one near here comes back one of these days — like so much else, they haven’t happened since pre-pandemic times.
I’d love to go to one so I might search up to see if there are any near here!
Good luck! I’d love to hear if you find something!
