Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is New-to-Me Authors I Read in 2020.
There were so many great authors whose works I got to experience for the first time in 2020! Here are 10 favorites (although I think I could come up with a lot more!)

- Stephen Graham Jones
- Constance Sayers
- Emily M. Danforth
- Paulette Jiles
- Lisa Grunwald
- Andrzej Sapkowski
- TJ Klune
- Veronica Roth
- V. E. Schwab
- Silvia Moreno-Garcia
What new-to-you authors did you discover in 2020? Any particular favorites? Do we have any in common?
Please share your link so I can check out your top 10!

I really want to read more from TJ Klune, too, and I’m very excited to try Plain Bad Heroines! I still haven’t decided if I’m going to read the sequel to Chosen Ones, but I’m hoping we’ll have some news about it soon so I can make my mind up. 😉
I definitely want to read more by TJ Klune. I ended up reading two of his books last year, and I know he has something new coming out later in 2021. I hadn’t even heard that there would be a sequel to Chosen Ones, although it makes sense. I’ll read it!
I really ought to read Mexican Gothic one of these days.
My post.
Yes! It’s so creepy and such a great read.
I LOVED news of the world–I may have posted that here before. I so wanted Sam Elliott for the lead in the movie.
Oh yes, he’d be perfect! I haven’t watched the Tom Hanks movie yet — have you?
No–not sure I will. I tend to hold a casting grudge lol
Stephen Graham Jones was a new author for me too, and I ended up reading three of his books last year! V.E. Schwab has lots of great backlist books, you should try Vicious:-)
How funny, I feel like you’re one of the people who’s talked about SGJ a lot — can’t believe you read three in one year! (Now my competitive nature is telling me to hurry and read more 🙂 ). I’ve been planning to read Vicious for ages. I even own a copy!
Brilliant list! I love tj klune and I’ve always wanted to try Talia Hibberts books (although they seem a little daunting!). I seem to be really bad at following the ttt prompts lol so this week I tried top ten bookish things that annoy me. Although there could have been SO MANY MORE 😫 Here’s my post in case you’re interested 🙂 https://hundredsandthousandsofbooks.blog/2021/01/26/ttt-26-1-top-ten-bookish-things-i-hate/
Ha ha, I could definitely fill up a list of things that annoy me. 🙂
I just finished The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune. Klune will go on my list next year,
That’s great! I want to read many more of his books. 🙂
Silvia Morena-Garcia and Andrzej Sapkowski are also on mine!
I really need to pick up TJ Klune!
My post!
You should! I think you’ll really enjoy The House in the Cerulean Sea!
I’ve just finished my first TJ Klune book and absolutely loved it! VE Schwab is one of my faves, I love her MG series.
I do need to try some of her other books — I have a copy of Vicious that I’ve been meaning to read for years now!
Isn’t that always the way! I have some books that were released years ago that I still haven’t got to!!! Hope you enjoy 😁
I’ve got a copy of Plain Bad Heroines on my shelf – I need to get to it asap!
Lauren @ Always Me
It’s so good! I’m just excited because the friend I loaned my copy to is committed to returning it next week. 🙂
I really want to read News of the World – thanks for the reminder!
It’s really lovely (and pretty short). The audiobook narrator is great — I really enjoyed listening to it.
So many people seem to really like Mexican Gothic. It’s one I’m hoping to read this year. 🙂 Great list!
I now have ARCs for two more books of hers, and I’m excited to see what they’re like. I hope you enjoy Mexican Gothic!
I read Stephan Graham Jones for the first time as well. And yay for Silvia Moreno-Garcia!
Mexican Gothic was so good! I have a couple more of her books to read this year!
Great list! I kept seeing Mexican Gothic. Everyone loves it and I am intrigued!
Here is my TTT: https://wandersbetweenpagess.wordpress.com/2021/01/26/new-to-me-authors-i-read-in-2020-top-ten-tuesday/
So highly recommended! It’s creepy and atmospheric and really stuck with me.
Oh gosh! Creepy books are really hard for me. I’m such a coward.
Welllll, then this might not be a good choice for you!
You got some good one’s here… I need to read V.E. Schwab very soon
I have a couple of her earlier books that I want to get to as well. 🙂
Mexican Gothic made my list this week too, such a great book. I need to read more by Moreno-Garcia I think. I definitely want to check out Plain Bad Heroines and Addie LaRue as well. News of the World is a new one to me but I like that cover, looks like something I need to know more about 😀
A movie version of News of the World just came out (starring Tom Hanks), and I plan to see it eventually, but the book is lovely and highly recommended! I definitely want to read more Moreno-Garcia too (I have ARCs for two upcoming books — yay!)
T.J. Klune was on my list, too! I really need to read The Only Good Indians and The Witcher series! I’ve heard they’re both good. Maybe those will be new-to-me authors for 2021. 😉
I hope so ! If you’ve watched The Witcher series, then the books will really entertain you.
I loved Mexican Gothic 🍄
It was so good! Can’t wait to read more by her.
True! 😍
