Top Ten Tuesday: Top ten books on my TBR list for winter 2018/2019

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is about reading plans for this winter.

My main reading plan for this winter is to read the books I’ve recently acquired — basically, books that I had to have IMMEDIATELY and spent actual money on! My terrible tendency is to rush to buy books, and then once I get them, suddenly have other books that I need to read first… and so they sit there, unloved and unread, for months and months.

So, top priority for the next few months will be these books — my newest acquisitions:

1) Becoming by Michelle Obama

2) A Pocketful of Crows by Joanne M. Harris

3) Unholy Land by Lavie Tidhar

4) The Book of M by Peng Shepherd

5) Death of an Eye by Dana Stabenow

6) In An Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire

7) Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

8) The White Darkness by David Grann

9) We Are All Completely Fine by Daryl Gregory

10) One of the Austen-inspired books I’ve picked up at recent library sales — either Darcy and Fitzwilliam by Karen V. Wasylowski or Definitely Not Mr. Darcy by Karen Doornebos… or both!

What books will be keeping you warm this winter? Share your links, and I’ll come check out your top 10!

  1. Great list! The cover of Death of an Eye is gorgeous. I’ve heard brilliant things about Illuminae and Becoming – I hope you enjoy all of these. ๐Ÿ˜Š

    • Thanks so much! I’m excited for Death of an Eye — I’ve read all of the author’s book in her ongoing series set in Alaska, but this is something new and different for her, and I can’t wait to check it out!

    • Thanks, Christine! I’m really going to try to focus on digging into my owned books in the coming year… but I think we all know how easy it is to become distracted by shiny new books!

    • I hope you get a copy! I have the hardcover, but I’m wavering a bit on whether to read it or listen to the audiobook instead (which I hear is fabulous). Happy reading to you too!

  2. I bought Becoming on audible the other day. I started listening to it but then had to stop as I have so many books half finished and I knew i would carry on listening for hours and hours if I didnโ€™t. I really hope you will enjoy it, will you read it or listen to it? The audio version is narrated by Michelle Obama.
Illuminae is on my radar as well.
After enjoying Circe early this year, I also want to read The Song of Achilles. And the Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson .. and many, many other books! ๐Ÿ˜Š Happy reading! ๐Ÿ“š

    • I was planning to read Becoming (I have the hardcover), but I keep hearing how amazing the audiobook is, so I’m a bit torn. I loved Song of Achilles so much — and I’m really excited that my book group selected Circe for one of our group reads in 2019. I’ve listened to two Jon Ronson audiobooks so far, and thought he was terrific (such a great narrator as well as a writer) — I’ll add the Psychopath Test to my wish list!

      Happy reading to you too!

      • I’m so happy you loved Song of Achilles. I heard so many wonderful things about it and cannot wait to read it. I hope you will enjoy Circe – it was such a wonderful book. ๐Ÿ™‚
