Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Top Ten Favorite 2017 Releases So Far This Year.
I’m not reading a whole lot of new releases these days, so this list will be about my favorite books read in 2017, regardless of publication date. In no particular order, my top ten are:
1) Waking Gods by Sylvain Neuvel (review)
2) The Finishing School series by Gail Carriger (review)
3) Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire
4) Binti by Nnedi Okorafor
5) Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey (review)
6) The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden (review)
7) Unequal Affection by Lara S. Ormiston (review)
8) Six Wakes by Mur Lafferty (review)
9) Miniatures by John Scalzi (review)
10) Spaceman by Mike Massimino (review)

Nice 🙂 and thank you for the directory link!
I’m glad to see that “Waking Gods” made it onto your list! Would you say it was better than “Sleeping Giants”? I still need to read the second book since I liked the first one but didn’t love it, that’s why I’m still a bit reluctant to get the sequel 😀
I’ve heard great things about “Six Wakes” and the blurb sounds really interesting, I definitely need to read that one!
Looks like you’ve read some spectacular books so far this year!!

Great list, Lisa! I’m glad to see you enjoyed the Finishing School series; I’m currently making my way through the Parasol Protectorate books and they’re a lot of fun, so I’ll definitely be giving that series a try one I finish this one. =)
Ohh I must get waking gods soon, I have just finished sleeping giants, so good
Thanks for sharing your favorites of the year, so far, and thank you also for building a book meme list. I look forward to seeing your complete list.

I loved Waking Gods A LOT – I read Sleeping Giants and Waking Gods back to back (reviews of which are on my blog) and thoroughly enjoyed them. The book on your list that I really want to check out however is The Bear and the Nightingale, it has been on my radar but I haven’t come across any reviews of it yet.
Great list! I had The Bear and the Nightingale on my list as well! Such a beautiful book.
I haven’t read any of the books on your list, and I’m feeling very unaccomplished right now? Isn’t my TBR big enough? (silently cries)
Here’s my TTT 🙂

I love the book covers for Sylvain Neuvel’s books…also a reminder that I still have yet to read these books xD Great list! Yay for Leviathan Wakes 😀
My TTT
Binti was such an amazing book. It’s nice to meet another fan of it.
I must say that the cover for Down Among the Sticks catches my eye as well. I might just have to read that one. 🙂
Here is my TTT.
Great list! A bunch of these are actually on my TBR – especially Down Among the Sticks and Bones. 🙂 Here’s my T10T for this week!
Some great books listed here. I added a couple to my TBR list!

Don’t you love TTT posts? the only one I’ve heard of on this list was the Finishing School series – and I have the first book of that, and I’m hoping to read it soon. Otherwise, glad you enjoyed so many books this year 😀
I liked Six Wakes a lot, and I’ve heard there may be a sequel? I’m hoping. And I read Sleeping Giants, but haven’t gotten to Waking Gods yet.
