Welcome back to Thursday Quotables! This weekly feature is the place to highlight a great quote, line, or passage discovered during your reading each week.ย Whether it’s something funny, startling, gut-wrenching, or just really beautifully written, Thursday Quotables is where my favorite lines of the week will be, and you’re invited to join in!
NEW! Thursday Quotables is now using a Linky tool! Be sure to add your link if you have a Thursday Quotables post to share.
Lock In by John Scalzi
(published 2014)
This science fiction/crime story is so weird and fun! I mean, how can you not love a book where this is a “normal” conversation with a real estate agent:
“Will your body be physically present, and if so, will you need a room for a caretaker?” she asked.
“My body and its caretaking are already squared away,” I said. “I won’t be needing space for either. At least not right away.”
What lines made you laugh, cry, or gasp this week? Do tell!
If you’d like to participate in Thursday Quotables, it’s really simple:
- Write a Thursday Quotables post on your blog. Try to pick something from whatever you’re reading now. And please be sure to include a link back to Bookshelf Fantasies in your post (http://www.bookshelffantasies.com), if you’d be so kind!

Well, that IS weird. But also so intersting! And I love mysteries set in ‘different’ setting and times ๐
It’s definitely a weird scenario, but I’m really enjoying it. I was expecting pure sci-fi, but it’s actually much more a crime/detective story within a sci-fi setting. Lots of fun!
Well, that kind of sounds like my cup of tea!
Hahaha, this book sounds great ๐
I’m loving it so far!
When I first read it, it sounded very menacing. But then I noticed you’d said this was a normal conversation…I’m very intrigued now.
I hope you check it out! It’s an odd world, but so fascinating!
