Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree This Year. Since I don’t have a tree and I’m not on Santa’s route (and my winter holiday has already come and gone), I’ll stick with books and bookish items that I’d love to get as gifts — any time at all!
For the most part, my list consists of books and related things that I’d love to receive, but for whatever reason — high price, feeling like too big an indulgence, a “nice to have” but not really a necessity — I just most likely wouldn’t buy these for myself. (Ahem, secret gift givers — are you paying attention??)
1) The new illustrated Harry Potter: This looks absolutely gorgeous! Next time I find myself with a giftcard in my hands, this will be my treat to myself.
2) Also related to Harry Potter, I’d love to get the complete series as audiobooks:
3) This one has been on my “want” list for years: Firefly: A Celebration by Joss Whedon
Description: Titan’s three bestselling Firefly titles collected together at last, just in time for the 10th anniversary of Joss Whedon’s beloved series. This huge, 544 page full colour volume is simply one of the most lavish books ever produced for a TV show, and is presented in a foil-stamped leather-effect binding. Plus, as an exclusive bonus for this edition, a pocket at the back of the book contains 9 frameable photo prints of the cast, featuring rare and previously unseen images, and a facsimile of one of the prop banknotes used in the show.
4) This one too: Bone: Full Color One Volume Edition by Jeff Smith
Bone is one of my very favorite things ever. I love the artwork, the story, and the ridiculous stupid rat creatures. We have the 9 individual books, but I’m sure lusting after this all-in-one version. However… at about $100, this isn’t an edition I’m likely to buy unless I’m suddenly discovered by some long-lost wealthy relative… I can dream, can’t I?
5) The gorgeous hardcover collected edition of the first three volumes in the Saga series:
6) Sticking with graphic novels, I’d love to own my own set of the Alex + Ada trilogy, which I read this past year thanks to my public library:
7) I have a perfectly functional Kindle — but it’s one of the old-model keyboard Kindles, and I’m kind of itching for an upgrade (for no good reason, really, since it works just fine and I enjoy using it). Still, if I were to get a newer Kindle, I’d probably go for the Kindle Voyage, ‘cuz it just seems cool.
8) I love all the amazing book-related shirts, totebags, mugs, etc over at Out of Print:
9) I’d definitely love to receive pretty much any of the Collectible Edition books available from Barnes and Noble:
10) There are several memoirs and non-fiction books that I’ll probably borrow from the library eventually, but wouldn’t mind actually owning — among them:
What are you hoping to find under your tree, in your stocking, or in the UPS driver’s hands this year? Whatever you’re wishing for, I wish you good health, good friends, lots of laughter, and amazing reading!

Here’s a link to my Top Ten Tuesday list this week: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2015/12/top-ten-tuesday-top-ten-books-i-wouldnt.html
Thanks!
I got the illustrated edition of Harry Potter #1 as a present too, and I love it so much. And I love the audiobooks, but I don’t own like the “physical copies” of them -which I’d love to. Do you prefer the Jim Dale narration or the Stephen Fry?
I hope you’ll get these under the tree! 😀
I’ve never listened to the Harry Potter audiobooks! I’ve heard such good things about both narrators — which do you prefer?
I really like Stephen Fry’s narration! It feels really… nostalgic, even though it was the first time I’d ever listened to them. I think on Amazon, you should be able to listen to excerpts of both, so you can decide which voice you’d like best 😀
What a great Christmas list! 🙂 I would love the illustrated Harry Potter. I hope you receive some off these books.
Thanks! I’m really dying for the illustrated HP… I may not be able to resist much longer!
Hope you find some of these under your tree! I would love to have some bookish swag as well, definitely checking out Out of Print 😀
Out of Print has some amazing stuff! So far, I’ve given a few gifts from there, but haven’t actually received any myself. 🙂
AHH FIREFLY!! I just watched it this year and I’m sadder than ever to have known that it got cancelled. :(((
Oh, I’m still in mourning for that show! I just rewatched it (and Serenity) a few months ago. Still amazing.
Great list! I’d quite like to check out The Witches, and that Firefly book looks very cool. 🙂
The Witches really sounds great, and I saw a fascinating interview with the author recently too.
Great Top 10. I think I am going to see the illustrated Harry Potter popping up on everyone’s list. Lucky for me I already have a copy, just haven’t read it yet. Happy Tuesday and Happy Reading!
Lucky you with a copy of the illustrated HP! It’s definitely my #1 wish!
I bought the illustrated Harry Potter as a gift for the whole family. Totally cheating but that way I’m guaranteed to get it. 😉
Ha, what a great idea! I hope you all enjoy it!
Great list! If I wasn’t thinking solely about books, I would add a new Kobo eReader to my list; I have the first generation Kobo Touch and for the last year or two it’s been acting up big time =S It’s been behaving the last few months so I haven’t been as inclined to pick up a new eReader but still, haha. I hope you receive all of these as gifts, Lisa!

Thanks! My old Kindle really does work just fine… I’m just so tempted by new toys!
I would really love the Kindle Voyage too. I can’t justify buying it because I can read on my iPad, but man, I want one so bad.
And I also totally need the Illustrated Harry Potter. It’s gorgeous!
I keep trying the Kindle Voyage whenever I go into Best Buy… but yeah, I can’t quite justify it since my old Kindle does work. (But it’s so pretty!)
Ah the B&N leather bound collection are so good. I want them all. Happy reading! https://ireadboooks.wordpress.com/2015/12/22/ten-books-i-dnf-ed-in-2015/
Thanks! I want them all too… I keep looking, and finding more and more that are gorgeous!
I want that Firefly celebration so badly! I hope you get it and post a lot of pretty pictures of it 🙂
I hope I do too! 🙂 Not holding my breath, though…
I’ve got my fingers crossed for you!
Great list! Are those book-related socks I see?! And the B&N classics are gorgeous. Imagine having an entire row of them on your bookshelf!
Out of Print has socks, mugs, shirts, totes… totally awesome!
That is awesome! I’m not sure why I was so excited by the socks. They’re…warm for winter?
Yes — and just so adorable! 🙂
Great list! I have Alex and Ada on mine too, I’ve never read them but saw an enthusiastic review so looking forward to them. I love those B&N editions- I have a few but there are so many more I want! And Bone- I read some of those a few years ago but never read the whole thing. I should track those down and get ’em.
I don’t have any of the B&N books yet, but I’d really like to start with a few. My son introduced me to Bone, and I loved them! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
I also have The WItches on my list this week! I love anything involving the Salem witch trials. The HP Illustrated edition is amazing. I just finished reading it last night. I would also like to someday have all of the audio books from Audible.
Ooh, lucky you, you already have the illustrated HP! I keep checking the price online to see if there’s a sudden sale or something. 🙂 Not sure how much longer I can wait!
What a great list. I want the Harry Potter illustration book too and the collectible edition books! My cousins and I once went to the bookstore and talked about which books we want and we all loved the collectible edition books. They would most certainly look great on the shelf. Plus I haven’t read any classics so that’ll be a plus. Merry Christmas!
my TTT
Merry Christmas to you too! Maybe I should just go ahead and treat myself to a couple of collectible books — I seem to have them on my wishlist every single year. 🙂
Those leather bound Barnes and Noble classics are pretty great. I have only a few of them and would like more myself. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! Which of the B&N books do you have? They’re all so gorgeous — it’s hard to choose!
The B&N classics are so pretty! I treated myself to a few more children’s classics (because, you know, I have a child now, so that’s a convenient excuse. Even though he is only 8 months old. LOL) when they recently had a sale — I’ve been meaning to write a post about them — I should do that in the new year 🙂
I’ll look forward to hearing which ones you have and what you think! And hey, it’s never too early to start building a library for your little one! 🙂
That is what I tell myself! lol
Oh my goodness those collectible editions from Barnes and Noble are exquisite! Great post!
Thank you! I keep eyeing the Barnes and Noble books… will need to treat myself one of these days!
