In my “real” life, things are busy as always. I did manage to sneak in two fun outings this past week — dinner with a good friend after months of our schedules never matching up, and then The Book of Mormon with my husband just last night. (It rocked.)

A Groupon for a local used book store was burning a hole in my pocket (it was about to expire), so here’s what I picked up:

I’m trying to get a jump start on my review commitments for May. I’m reading The Mapmaker’s Children by Sarah McCoy so I’ll have my blog tour post ready in advance. Planning ahead? How unusual!
Now playing via audiobook:
I’m so close to the end of the Emma audiobook! Juliet Stevenson is an amazing narrator, and I’ve really loved every minute. I’ll be traveling next week and probably won’t start another audiobook until I get back — but when I do, it’ll be tempting to listen to more Austen à la Stevenson!

Eragon, OH how I hate the fact that I’ve actually never read these books before. (and it was written by an insanely talented teen) like Omg, why haven’t I read this before? Are they really long? And your TBR looks awesome! I added Rook to my Goodreads shelf. Been feeling behind since I’ve been seeing it around the Blogosphere and haven’t read it yet. 🙂
Eragon is taking me forever, just because I’m reading it alongside my kid and he’s taking his time! It is pretty crazy thinking that it was written by a teen! I haven’t decided yet if I want to continue with the series — I suppose that’ll depend on whether I like how this one wraps up. 🙂
That has to be awesome though that you’re reading it with your son. 🙂 I wish I had a reading partner like that but *shrugs* I don’t. Wishing you lots and lots of luck with Eragon. Maybe one day I’ll venture towards it. Hehe
I hope you are enjoying Emma, it’s my favourite Austen book.

It’s been such a long time since I first read Emma, and I’d forgotten how amazing it is. The dialogue on the audiobook is just superb. The narrator does an especially good job capturing Miss Bates and Mrs. Elton and their quirks, but I really love the whole thing!

If you bought the same one I did — well, hate to break it to you, but it expired 4/30. 😦 Still usable for the amount you paid for it, though.

So glad to hear you loved The Bookseller! I’ve got it sitting on my shelf so I’ll get to it eventually. I’ll be remembering that you enjoyed it now. 🙂 So sad to hear about Rook! I’ve heard disappointing things about it from several trusted sources so I went ahead and removed it from my TBR. Glad I got turned down for the blog tour now. lol Ooooh! Harry Dresden! I hope you enjoy it — I’ll keep an eye out for your review. 🙂 Rook was so disappointing — I just read The Scarlet Pimpernel earlier this year and thought the sound of Rook was so promising, but the world-building was meh and I just couldn’t bring myself to care at all. I’m waiting for someone to tell me that it gets amazing in the second half! I love the Dresden books — I”ve actually read them all already, but these two were the ones I was missing my own copies of… I definitely encourage you to pick up the series again. It’s like candy, so fun to gobble up!
