Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Top Ten Bookish Things (That Aren’t Books) That I’d Like To Own. Book goodies? Oh, be still, my little book-obsessed heart!
Here’s what I’m lusting after the most:
1) A new book light: Probably the least expensive item on my list. I have a clip-on book light that I’ve had for years, and I think it’s time to upgrade to something sleeker and less clunky. Maybe something like this:
2) I love cool/different/attractive bookends (although, speaking realistically, I have very little need for bookends because my bookshelves are all full to overflowing). Still, if I were going to buy bookends, here are a few I’d probably consider:
3) Bookmarks: As in, I can never have enough. I don’t particularly care for fancy bookmarks with gems, beads, or dangly bits. But some of my favorite things to collect when I travel are plain old paper bookmarks from the different places I visit… and since I love to travel, I hope I’ll have lots and lots more to add to my collection, like these:
4) A new e-reader, perhaps? I have an older Kindle which works just fine, plus I can use the Kindle app on my IPad. I prefer my old Kindle over the IPad, as I don’t like reading on back-lit screens. Still, I’m a little teensy bit tempted by the Kindle Paperwhite. Has anyone tried one of these? What do you think?
5) Bookish T-shirts! Because booklovers need to proclaim their bookish ways with pride! I love the entire collection over at Out of Print, especially these:
(Images from the Out of Print website; and really, I love every single shirt and design on their site!)
6) A custom print from Ideal Bookshelf: I love just about everything these amazingly creative folks have to offer, and I’m crazy about the My Ideal Bookshelf book. I’m so tempted to buy myself framed prints or notecards or bookmarks… but if I were ever to truly splurge, I think a custom design would be the way to go!
Here’s their fantasy shelf print, as an example:

7) Now we’re really getting into my daydream realm… but if we’re talking bookish delights, then I’d like a reading nook something like this:
8) … or a cozy hammock on a beach:
9) A big comfy armchair would be nice…
10) … or my ultimate fantasy space for reading, a room full of pillows!
… which I think I’ve wanted ever since reading Dr. Seuss’s I Had Trouble In Getting to Solla Sollew

I love these picks, especially the bookshelves around a bed!
In my dream house, I’d want a reading nook just like this one!
you can never have too many bookmakrs, indeed!
my top ten tuesday http://wp.me/p3v5T1-o6
Aaah, those AT-AT bookends! The ship & sea monster one is cool, as well.
I have a Kindle Paperwhite, and I think it’s great, but I haven’t owned any other ereaders so I can’t compare it with anything. One thing I hope it could do is turn the backlight off completely, but the lowest setting isn’t bad.
Good to know. One of these days, I’ll go over to an electronics store and play with a Paperwhite for a bit. I can’t really see myself buying one when my old Kindle works just fine, but I’d at least like to check it out. Thanks!
ahhh the room full of pillows! I’d go to read and fall asleep constantly!
Me too… but I can’t think of a better way to ensure sweet dreams!
These are soooo awesome. Be still MY bookish heart. XD I really really love that Wrinkle in Time shirt. Honestly, after this I’m going to that website to pin ALL THE THINGS (I blame you. xD) The bookends are absolutely gorgeous too!
Thanks! I’ve spent so much time looking at all the T-shirts… still haven’t bought any, because I can never narrow down the choices. Ha, blame me for being a bad influence… 🙂
I purposely didn’t this top ten list because when i saw the topic I thought I’d never be able to think of ten things, but your list is perfect! I don’t own a paperwhite, but I have a Kindle touch (and others) and have played around with the paperwhite. It seems worth the cost.
A reading room with built in shelves, good lighting, and a good reading chair would be the ultimate bookish dream for me.
A good reading chair is so important! I used to have the best big comfy armchair, but had to get rid of it a couple of moves ago… and I’ve never found one quite as perfect for curling up in!
I’d love to have a hammock for reading. A good chair is important.
Here’s my list of Book-ish Things (That Aren’t Books) That I Like.
On vacation last summer, I stayed someplace with a great hammock — and you practically had to spill me on to the ground to get me out of it! I wish I had a yard at home that could work with a hammock — such a great reading spot!
I keep on feeling tempted by the kindle paperwhite too. But at the moment, I don’t have any need to upgrade, so I’m holding onto my older kindle. I definitely want to create a much comfier, cosier reading space. My own home library would be awesome too. I love your list 🙂
Right, I can’t see upgrading my kindle while my old one still works… but I’m not 100% satisfied with how the pages lay out, so maybe?
Eeek, I’m a huge Star Wars nerd, so I would love that bookend! Great list 🙂
Thanks! I got sucked down the rabbit-hole of googling bookends — so many awesome ones out there!
Love the book ends!
🙂 I wish, I wish, I wish…
I too said bookends and a new book light! I usually stack my hard covers at the end of the shelves to keep my paperbacks upright!
You’ve just introduced me to a new site too, I’d never heard of Out of Print before…(I think I’d look good in the Call of the Wild T)
@Get Lost in Lit
I think you’d look good in the Call of the Wild T too! 🙂 Aren’t the t-shirts great? Some day, when I feel like buying myself a present, this is where I’m heading!
I feel like I would sink into the pillow room and just doze there all day and not get any reading done. Some of those bookends are pretty rad too!
Cheers,
joey via. thoughts and afterthoughts
Well, I’d probably doze, and then read, and then doze some more… so comfy! Ahhhh.
That’s some willpower if you can wake up all comfy and all and actually focus on reading– I’d just doze through it all.
I love your list! Those bookends are amazing! And I love bookmarks! I absolutely love them (I don’t care for those dangly bits either), and that photo you shared gave me an idea to make my own bookmark with my own photos! I have the old Kindle and the Kindle app in my iPad too but I’m so tempted to get the new one! That room full of pillows? BLISS!
