Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Top Ten 2014 Releases That I’m Dying To Read. Easy. The hard part will be stopping at just ten.
1) At the top of just about every list I write these days is my most anticipated book for 2014, Written In My Own Heart’s Blood by Diana Gabaldon. Now scheduled for release in June, WIMOHB (or MOBY, as Herself refers to it) is the 8th book in the simply incomparable Outlander series. ‘Nuff said. If you’re a fan, you already have this one on preorder.
2) Landline by Rainbow Rowell (July): I’ve loved all three Rainbow Rowell books so far, and can’t wait to see what she does next!

3) The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness (July): We may not have cover art yet, but at least we have a title and a release date! I’m so looking forward to the conclusion of the All Souls Trilogy.

4) My Real Children by Jo Walton (May): I loved Among Others, and the description of this new book by Jo Walton sounds amazing.

5) Night Broken by Patricia Briggs (March): Mercy Thompson is one of my very favorite female fictional characters, and this series keeps getting better and better!

6) Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray (August): I really don’t like the cover, but that won’t stop me from reading this follow-up to The Diviners.

7) By Blood We Live by Glen Duncan (February): Book 3 in the trilogy that started with The Last Werewolf and then Talulla Rising. These books are bloody and gory — and also powerful and full of incredible writing.

8) Skin Game by Jim Butcher (date not set): There’s no official release date yet, but rumor has it that the 15th Dresden Files book will be out in 2014, and that’s good enough for me!

9) The Serpent of Venice by Christopher Moore (April): Okay, Christopher Moore just cracks me up, every time. I’m really looking forward to this follow-up to Fool.

10) Locke & Key: Alpha & Omega by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez (February): Locke & Key is creepy and disturbing and just so amazingly GREAT. I really can’t wait to read the final volume in this graphic novel series.

I really could go on and on — there are so many great books coming out next year! What books are you dying to read in 2014?

I haven’t read any Christopher Moore, loving the look of that. I’ll have to check him out!
So much fun! He’s vulgar and hliarious and kind of insane, but I love his books so much! (And what does that say about me??)
haha I wouldn’t worry, it sounds like I’d definitely enjoy them too!
Was The Diviners any good? I’ve picked it up and put it down so many times but never actually got around to reading it!
I loved it! Great characters and setting, terrific combination of humor and adventure with a really creepy paranormal mystery. Definitely recommended!
I’m also looking forward to Rainbow Rowell’s new book. She’s a great writer!
I agree! One of my favorite new-to-me authors of 2013!
I completely forgot about The All Souls Trilogy. Thank you for reminding me! Also I can’t wait for Mercy Thompson either!
I may have to reread the previous All Souls books before I’m ready for the new one — so much detail! But I’m really excited for it too! And hurray for another Mercy fan 🙂
Yay for Harkness and Rowell’s books! I’m so excited for both (even if I’ll be waiting a bit longer with Harkness’ book as I want the third book to match my other two books in the trilogy) 😀

I’ve got it on preorder, and now that it’s on my mind again, I really can’t wait to see how the story wraps up! So many good books coming in 2014!
Great list! I’m not familiar with all of them, but they look interesting. 😀 I’ll have to check a few of them out.

Yay for the Harkness book and Locke and Key!! Hope you get all these books and enjoy them!
The Book of Life made my list as well. And I really have to read more Rainbow Rowell.
I consider her must-read at this point. 🙂
I’ve only read Attachments so far.
Eleanor & Park is really beautiful. I recommend it highly!
I haven’t started any of the series/authors but I must soon, especially Gabaldon and Rowell. I hear nothing but praise 🙂
Happy reading!
OMG NEW DRESDEN FILES!!!! I am so excited! I don’t think I’ve stuck with a series this long, ever. Quality every time. 😀 YAY!!
I love the Dresden Files! Some series just kind of dwindle away the longer they go on — but Dresden is going strong! I loved the last one, can’t wait to see what happens next!
We have a lot in common today! Especially with Gabaldon but I expected that. 😉
I still have to read the 2nd Harkness… really wanted to re-read book one because of the complete lack of recap in book 2 but we’ll see. Maybe I can find a nice recap online to read instead. lol
Harkness is so detail-heavy — I reread the 1st book right before the 2nd one came out, and realized that I’d forgotten a LOT, so the reread was definitely helpful. I’m not sure I have it in me to reread the 2nd before the 3rd, though, so yes, a good recap would be dandy. 🙂 Hurray for Gabaldon! If only June were a little sooner…
great picks! i didn’t do one with week because i am horrible at keeping track of when books come out and frankly… don’t really know of any books coming out in 2014.
Some weeks I just draw a blank on the top 10 topics. I’m a mad pre-orderer (not that that’s a word), so I’m always keeping track of when my books are coming… and waiting impatiently — although I already have a zillion books sitting unread on my shelf even without anything new. 🙂
I love Rainbow Rowell! I can’t wait to hear how this new book is!
Me too! Can’t wait to read it!
I’m shocked that I forgot to add Landline to my list, another Rainbow Rowell book? Yes please! Thanks for stopping by my TTT 🙂
I wanted to include Attachments on my list, but since I was having a terrible time narrowing my list down, I decided to focus on authors whom I haven’t read before. But I’m still dying to read this one. I finally bought Outlander a few weeks ago. But I didn’t know there are 8 books in the series. That’s a bit daunting!

Great idea, focusing on new-to-you authors! There are so many books coming up that I’m excited for. Don’t worry too much about how huge the Outlander series is — I’d say give the first book a try, and if you like it, you can decide whether to keep going, fast or slow. For me, I went on a binge and read all of them (7 at that point) in a row, which took me a few months. It was fun (!!), but I was a little crazed by the end. A slower, more reasonable approach probably makes a lot more sense. A friend of mine is determined to read them all, but refuses to read more than one a year. 🙂
I definitely need All Souls #3!! I loved A Discovery of Witches so much! I thought The Diviners was a standalone (haven’t read it yet) but I like that there’s a sequel coming up 🙂 Thanks for pointing that out to me, and for stopping by!
