Spell the Month in Books: October

Spell the Month in Books is a monthly meme hosted by Jana at Reviews from the Stacks. To participate, find a book title that starts with each letter in the month’s name, make a list, share your link, and that’s it! You can share anytime by the end of the month. Some months have additional themes, but feel free to participate however you’d like!

There’s no official theme this month, so I’m going with one of my own! With Halloween just around the corner, my clear choice for October is HORROR. Without further ado, here are my horror books whose titles spell October:

O:

The Outsider by Stephen King

Intensely creepy! (review)

C:

The Children by Melissa Albert
Inventive and haunting (review)

T:

Talulla Rising by Glen Duncan

2nd in a fascinating werewolf trilogy (review)

O:

Overgrowth by Mira Grant

Unique tale of alien invasion (review)

B:

Breed by Chase Novak

SO disturbing! (review)

E:

Episode Thirteen by Craig DiLouie

Scary, original, hard to define! (review)

R:

The Return by Rachel Harrison

Talented author’s first novel — amazing! (review)

Happy October to all! If you spelled the month in books, please leave me a link to your post — I’d love to see it!

  1. Great choices. There are a couple here that are new to me but I’m definitely planning to get to The Children this year and have The Outsider on my TBR too. I want to read the Mr Mercedes trilogy first though as I believe it introduces one of the characters 🤔

    • Now I’m trying to remember if I read the Mr Mercedes books before or after The Outsider! I’m not sure — I think I may have read The Outsider first, liked the character, and then decided to try the other books… and it worked out for me! I loved The Children– hope you get a chance to pick it up!

      • I haven’t read Holly for the same reason 🙈 I think I need to stop stressing about the order so much but I’m worried about accidentally spoiling something if I read in the wrong order 🙈 Thank you.
