Welcome to Shelf Control — an original feature created and hosted by Bookshelf Fantasies.
Shelf Control is a weekly celebration of the unread books on our shelves. Pick a book you own but haven’t read, write a post about it (suggestions: include what it’s about, why you want to read it, and when you got it), and link up! Fore more info on what Shelf Control is all about, check out my introductory post, here.
Want to join in? Shelf Control posts go up every Wednesday. See the guidelines at the bottom of the post, and jump on board!
My Shelf Control pick this week is:
Title: Letters to the Lost
Author: Iona Grey
Published: 2015
Length: 384 pages
What it’s about (synopsis via Goodreads):
1943, in the ruins of Blitzed London…
Stella Thorne and Dan Rosinski meet by chance and fall in love by accident. Theirs is a reluctant, unstoppable affair in which all the odds are stacked against them: she is newly married, and he is an American bomber pilot whose chance of survival is just one in five.… He promised to love her forever
Seventy years later Dan makes one final attempt to find the girl he has never forgotten, and sends a letter to the house where they shared a brief yet perfect happiness. But Stella has gone, and the letter is opened by Jess, a young girl hiding from problems of her own. And as Jess reads Dan’s words, she is captivated by the story of a love affair that burned so bright and dimmed too soon. Can she help Dan find Stella before it is too late? Now forever is finally running out.
How I got it:
I bought a copy.
When I got it:
About a year ago, after a blogger friend recommended it.
Why I want to read it:
Wartime romance, lost lovers, mysterious letters… sounds perfect! I love good historical fiction, and a story about true love lost during war seems like something sure to tug the heartstrings.

While I am not a huge historical fiction reader I have to admit that Letters to the Lost does sound like something I would read. The cover of the book is so simple and yet effective!
Thank you for hosting this feature. Here is my post (I tried linking it back to your post in mine so I hope it works): https://forgottenpumpkinpie.wordpress.com/2017/05/03/shelf-control-beige/
