Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Top Ten Books on My Spring TBR.

Here are a bunch of upcoming new releases that I can’t wait to read!

Organized by release date:

1) Six Wakes by Mur Lafferty (release date 1/31/2017): I need this murder-on-a-spaceship-with-clones book now! Or , as soon as my hold request comes in at the library. I thought this author’s The Shambling Guide to New York City (review) was hilarious — I’m looking forward to seeing what she does with sci-fi.

2) The Book of Polly by Kathy Hepinstall (release date 3/14/2017): I loved Blue Asylum by this author — a beautiful work of historical fiction set during the Civil War. This one looks really different, and I’m intrigued!

3) The Collapsing Empire by John Scalzi (release date 3/21/2017): I adore everything I’ve read so far by this author. I have this one on order, and I’m just waiting for it to land in my hands.

4) The Women in the Castle by Jessica Shattuck (release date 3/28/2017): This WWII novel sounds intense!

5) The Boy on the Bridge by M. R. Carey (release date 5/2/2017): I can’t wait for this sequel to The Girl with All the Gifts!

6) Less Than a Treason by Dana Stabenow (release date 5/6/2017): Book #21 in the amazing Kate Shugak series! I binge-read the series over the last year and a half, and I can’t wait to dive back into this amazing world.

7) The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid (release date 6/13/2017): I’ve loved all of this author’s contemporary novels, and I”m looking forward to seeing what she does with historical fiction.

8) Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire (release date 6/13/2017): Every Heart A Doorway (review) was one of my favorites reads of 2016, and I cannot wait for the sequel!

9) Seven Stones to Stand or Fall by Diana Gabaldon (release date 6/27/2017): Well, of course I want this book! It includes seven stories set in the world of Outlander, including two that are brand new.

10) Coming Up For Air by Miranda Kenneally (release date 7/1/2017): What’s summer without a new book in Miranda Kenneally’s Hundred Oaks series? I haven’t been disappointed yet.

    • I’m so excited for Six Wakes — I’m glad to hear you liked it! My library is taking forever to get it. I may have to give in and treat myself to a copy of my own. 🙂

  1. Am so excited having discovered a Girl With All The Gifts sequel on your list.
I had NO idea there was going to be one. I loved Girl… so much that this new book is definitely going straight to the top of my TBR 🙂
    Great list!

      • As soon as I saw it on your list I went straight onto my library website and placed my request but if I see it in the shops before the book arrives I’ll probably end up buying it 😀

        • Sometimes the wait for library books is just too much to stand! I broke down and ordered a couple of books yesterday that I just couldn’t wait for anymore. 🙂

  2. I have to say that I really like the way you organized your list. What a logical way to do it!

Christine and pagesandtea, I didn’t know that The Girl with All the Gifts has a sequel on the way either. I absolutely loved that book, though, and can’t wait to see what happens next in it.

    • Thank you so much! The Boy on the Bridge seems to be creating a lot of excitement — if it’s anywhere as good as the first book, it should be great!

  3. Cannot wait for The Boy in the Bridge. I’m hoping so hard that it’s worth the wait! And I actually have Every Heart A Doorway on my list this week so I can be ready for the new one. 😀

    • I hope so too (about The Boy in the Bridge). I really, really loved Every Heart a Doorway — planning to listen to the audiobook right before the new one comes out so I’ll be in the proper mood. 🙂

  4. I’m not sure if I’m going to read The Boy on the Bridge. I’m not sure if I can move forward into the world as it ended in The Girl with the Gifts. I understood the point, but I also thought it was sad.

    • Oh yes, quite the upsetting ending! I’m not sure actually if The Boy is a sequel or something that takes place at the same time — I’m trying not to read much of the synopsis, because I”d rather be surprised. 🙂

  5. Six Wakes sounds amazing, I hope to pick it up at some point! I’m excited for Seanan McGuire’s new novella (just read Dusk or Dark or Dawn or Day some time ago) and ooh, The Women in the Castle looks interesting, I’ll have to check it out. Great list, happy reading! 🙂

    • Thanks, have fun with your TBR books too! I’ve mostly loved what I’ve read by Seanan McGuire, so I’m really looking forward to the new novella.

  6. Great list, Lisa! I really need to get to The Girl with all the Gifts and the Outlander series, too. Thanks for reminding me about The Women in the Castle – I’d like to get my hands on a copy. =) I hope you manage to get to lots of these and that you enjoy them!

    • Thanks! I think I’ll be getting to one or two in the next couple of weeks. It’s always easy to make TBR lists — much harder to actually stick with them!

  7. I really want to read Down Among the Sticks and Bones too. So glad Every Heart a Doorway will be a series (at least, I hope it will be). I just wish they were being published in trade paperback.

    • I haven’t been reading much YA lately, but there’s something about the way Miranda Kenneally develops her characters and their interactions that keeps pulling me back. 🙂
