Welcome to the newest weekly feature here at Bookshelf Fantasies… Shelf Control!
Shelf Control is all about the books we want to read — and already own! Consider this a variation of a Wishing & Waiting post… but looking at books already available, and in most cases, sitting right there on our shelves and e-readers.
Want to join in? See the guidelines and linky at the bottom of the post, and jump on board! Let’s take control of our shelves!
My Shelf Control pick this week is:
Title: Mistborn
Author: Brandon Sanderson
Published: 2007
Length: 643 pages
What it’s about (synopsis via Goodreads):
Once, a hero arose to save the world. A young man with a mysterious heritage courageously challenged the darkness that strangled the land.
He failed.
For a thousand years since, the world has been a wasteland of ash and mist ruled by the immortal emperor known as the Lord Ruler. Every revolt has failed miserably.
Yet somehow, hope survives. Hope that dares to dream of ending the empire and even the Lord Ruler himself. A new kind of uprising is being planned, one built around the ultimate caper, one that depends on the cunning of a brilliant criminal mastermind and the determination of an unlikely heroine, a street urchin who must learn to master Allomancy, the power of a Mistborn.
How I got it:
I bought it.
When I got it:
A couple of years ago.
Why I want to read it:
People recommend this one to me all the time, and I still haven’t read it! I’ve been unwilling to start a new series, but I think it’s about time I finally break down and give Mistborn a try.

This is great. I hope to participate next week especially since I have loads of books on my bookshelf just waiting to be read 🙂 This is an awesome feature.
You have had the book for years? Just had to reread that 🙂 That is a long time though I have one book that I bought in 2014.
Happy reading when you finally start to read it 🙂
Thanks! And yes, sadly, I have probably armfuls of books that I’ve had for years! 🙂 And I just went to my library’s annual sale last night, where every paperback was $2… so now I have even more waiting for me to read them.
Well having too many books is good kind of problem :-)I hope you found some gems through the awesome offer 🙂
That’s awesome! You definitely need to read Mistborn!! Hope you have a great time reading it 😀
I’m really looking forward to it – thanks!
Yes! I did a Shelf Control on Mistborn in February but I still haven’t gotten around to reading it… oops haha. I’ve heard from so many people how awesome it is.
I know, people are always telling me to read it! I’m glad we’re in the same boat. 🙂
This one is on my list too and has been for a few years now, everyone raves about it so fingers crossed it’s as good as we’re led to believe!
I really hope it is!
