Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is a Valentine’s Day freebie, meaning we can come up with our own take on the theme.
I’m keeping it simple, and going with a list of love stories that have really stayed with me:
Love Across Time
Jamie and Claire, Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
Henry and Clare, The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Richard and Elise, Somewhere in Time by Richard Matheson
Married Love
Rosetta and Jeremiah, I Shall Be Near To You by Erin Lindsay McCabe
Don and Rosie, The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion
Unrequited Love
Severus Snape and Lily Evans, the Harry Potter series
Sidney Carton and Lucie Manette, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
Love Between Friends
Maddie and Julie, Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
Supernatural Love
Matthew and Diana, All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness
Mercy and Adam, Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs
Happy Valentine’s Day!

I loved The Time Traveler’s Wife but it was so depressing I felt horrible for Clare she had to suffer a lot with no fault of her own. Great list! 🙂
Definitely, TTW is soooo tragic, but I loved it so much. (I read it twice in a row, which I don’t think I’ve ever done with another book!)
I haven’t read any of these books, but I quite like the quote you have from All Souls Trilogy. Might have to look that one up and check it out. 🙂 Here’s my TTT http://bedazzledbybooks.com/2016/02/09/top-ten-tuesday-top-10-fictional-crushes/
The All Souls Trilogy is really terrific – worth checking out!
Awwwww! 😀 Love to see Don and Rosie here! 😀
They’re so cute together! It was kind of hard finding a romantic quote for them, but I figured this is Don’s form of romantic. 🙂
Yes! That surely is! He’s wired differently, eh? 😀
The Time Travellers Wife is such a good book! I love Outlander too, those two were of course on my list 🙂 I have to disagree with you about Snape and Lily though – I ship Jily all the way
Here’s mine if you’re interested: https://victoriajaynesbooks.wordpress.com/2016/02/09/top-ten-tuesday-39-my-otps/
Oh, I don’t actually ship Snape and Lily — I just think Snape’s undying love for Lily is a beautiful thing. 🙂
OMG…the kiss me Hardy just brought back a miilllllion sad memories. I LOVE THAT BOOK AND YET IT RUINED ME. XD *wails* And the Always. Omg. ❤ Perfect pick of quotes!
Here’s my TTT!
Oh, yes, Code Name Verity is just a killer. But amazing. Thanks!
I love Claire and Jamie so much!!!! Thank you for posting this awesome list 😀
Claire and Jamie are pretty much always at the top of all of my lists! 🙂
I’m not a big romance lover when it comes to books so it’s great reading your TTT and getting recs. I have to say I do love The Time Travelers Wife though, that one stayed with me for quite a while after I read it.
My Top Ten Tuesday.
Oh, me too. In fact, I should really read it again. Didn’t care for the movie version, unfortunately.
Ahh Matthew and Diana ❤ ❤ I almost forgot about them! But Mercy and Adam made my list too! Great list!
My TTT
I love the Mercy series so much!! New book in just a few more weeks!
I know! Can’t wait!!!
There are so many books on here that I would love to read, especially The Time Traveler’s Wife. Those quotes are super swoony!
Ha ha, thanks! I don’t usually consider myself a big romance reader, but I didn’t have to stretch too far to find some romantic choices this week. 🙂
Darn it, I forgot to add The Time Traveller’s Wife in my list. Anyway, great TTT, and I love the additional quotes!
Thank you! This ended up being a really fun TTT week. 🙂
Great list, Lisa! Every time I see that quote from Outlander it reminds me that I really need to read it.
Do it! Do it! Sigh. I just love those books so much. 🙂
Those quotes from Outlander and The Time Traveller’s Wife are gorgeous–definitely memorable quotes from those books (aww, now the quote from The Time Traveller’s Wife has me all ❤ remembering how their story went and all). Also loved the quote from the All Souls' trilogy (been feeling like re-reading it again but there's a few other books that I've been meaning to re-read too…the dilemma!)
My TTT
Did you hear there’s going to be a TV series of A Discover of Witches? So exciting! Now that I took TTW off the shelf to find the quote, it’s making me want a re-read. Such a beautiful story!
I did! Very exciting–but I’m also scared because I want the tv series to be amazing and I already have a particular image of everything and everyone in my head lol. So many books to re-read and so little time (I’d love to re-read The Time Traveller’s Wife at some point too) xD
I think I have high hopes for ADoW on TV — it seems like a lot of the recent book adaptations have been working out well! Fingers crossed…
I love your pick for Unrequited Love they are def my favorite couple that never happened
“Favorite couple that never happened” — what a great way to put it! Thanks.
Time Traveler’s Wife is definitely an extra special love story. It was so emotional and awesome. I loved that book so much and I’m not the biggest romance reader. Lily and Snape 😦
The more I think about Time Traveler’s Wife today, the more I realize that I’m due for a re-read! That book has really stayed with me over the years.
Great list! Jamie and Claire made my list too.
Thanks! Jamie and Claire are simply the best, no question. 🙂
I need more books centered around love between friends. Code Name Verity was so good. Nice list this week!
Thank you! I’d love more books like that too.
I looove the list and the way you broke up the categories. 👍❤️
Thanks!
What beautiful quotes! ❤ I really enjoyed reading them.
Thank you so much! This was a really fun one to work on. 🙂
What a neat take on this week’s prompt! So many great picks! 🙂
Thanks!
I adore the Rosie Project! (And your graphics!) My TTT
Thank you!
Awww… Code Name Verity. *sniff*
Total tears. Every time.
