Welcome to the newest weekly feature here at Bookshelf Fantasies… Shelf Control!
Shelf Control is all about the books we want to read — and already own! Consider this a variation of a Wishing & Waiting post… but looking at books already available, and in most cases, sitting right there on our shelves and e-readers.
Want to join in? See the guidelines and linky at the bottom of the post, and jump on board! Let’s take control of our shelves!
My Shelf Control pick this week is:
Title: And Then There Were None
Author: Agatha Christie
Published: 1939
Length: 300 pages
What it’s about (synopsis via Goodreads):
First, there were ten – a curious assortment of strangers summoned as weekend guests to a private island off the coast of Devon. Their host, an eccentric millionaire unknown to all of them, is nowhere to be found. All that the guests have in common is a wicked past they’re unwilling to reveal – and a secret that will seal their fate. For each has been marked for murder. One by one they fall prey. Before the weekend is out, there will be none. And only the dead are above suspicion.
How I got it:
I bought it.
When I got it:
Earlier this year.
Why I want to read it:
I have an Agatha Christie-sized hole in my reading life… in other words, I’ve never read any of her books, and that’s just not okay! One of my resolutions for 2015 was to finally read one of her books, which is why I picked up a copy of And Then There Were None. And if I don’t start soon, this resolution will go in the FAIL column for sure, so I’d better get moving!

I have read just one Agatha Christie and it was this exact book…. I think this one is a great starting point and I’ll be surprised if you come away from this disappointed. Enjoy! And yay for completing resolutions!
Thanks! Now I just need to make it happen. 🙂
I actually have read a few Agatha Christie titles but not for many years and not this one. I’ve had this one in my TBR for some time now thanks mostly to Gretchen McNeil’s TEN, which was based on AND THEN THERE WERE NONE. I’d intended to read them both at the time…
Thanks for the tip about the Gretchen McNeil book! Sounds like a really fun idea, to read them both and compare.
I read this over the summer. It was my first Christie too and I loved it. Enjoy!
Thanks! I’m glad to hear you loved it!
This is the first book of Agatha Christie that I’ve read and I really really loved it. 🙂 Enjoy reading!
Thanks! I’m excited to finally give it a try!
I have this one too! And I’ve been meaning to read it forever…
I swore I”d read it in 2015… maybe I can still squeeze it in before New Year!
