Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith

I was a little stuck for a Thursday Quotables book this week. I’ve barely touched a book for the past 10 days, after a whirlwind family celebration (and plenty of houseguests). I’m listening to the audiobook version of Pride and Prejudice, and was happy to remember that I had this zombified version sitting on my shelf.
The classic opening, with a twist:
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains. Never was this truth more plain that during the recent attacks at Netherfield Park, in which a household of eighteen was slaughtered and consumed by a horde of the living dead.

Bookshelf Fantasies 
I also have this book sitting on my shelf and I think I’ve only read the first ten pages. I might return to it… one day!
It’s been years since I read it, but I remember it as pretty fun and silly when you’re in the mood for something light.

Is the rest of the book just as funny?
Yes… especially if you’re a fan of P&P and have read it recently. It’s pretty fun to see all the little ways that the original dialogue is used, with a twist. It does get to be a bit much after a while, but it’s a pretty fun diversion.
Well, zombies are zombies 😉 I like the writing style of the very first line, it’s quite oldie-worldie.
it does seem to be a big hit though!
Aside from that…I never actually liked Pride and Prejudice, I’m not big on zombies either, so I don’t think I’d like this book

No, if you don’t like P&P or zombies, I’d say this isn’t for you! 🙂 It’s fun if you’re a P&P fan, seeing all the little ways that the original is twisted into a zombie story. (And it’s fun seeing Elizabeth Bennet as a total bad-ass zombie killer!)
Thank you for your honesty 🙂 I LOVED the movie, but I really didn’t get along with the book. It’s a pity really because I do like some of Austens other books, but her most famous piece of work I didn’t like 😦 though I’d like to see Lizzie as a zombie killer 😛 lol x
I’m having fun with the P&P audiobook at the moment… and there’s always Bride & Prejudice, which I feel the need to rewatch every couple of years. 🙂
I’ve seen this book a lot and it’s always looked very fuuny and satirical, but I just have so many other books to read! Hope you’re enjoying it though 🙂

I was never interested in this because I was afraid it was gory, but now that I’ve seen the trailers for the movie, I want to read it because it seems funny. I’m still not sure about the gore, though.
Mmm, it’s kind of gory. Depends on your tolerance for that sort of thing. It’s all pretty quirky and silly, so even the violent zombie scenes are kind of funny.
