New! Improved???

Hey, all — check it out! I’m trying out a new theme and color scheme for Bookshelf Fantasies. After a year and half with my old layout, I was itching for something new to look at. What do you think?

I’ll still be fiddling and making adjustments for a bit… so let me know if you have any suggestions, please.

I hope you like it!

    • Great input! I know a lot of bloggers use this theme — I like the clean layout a lot. But you’re right, a custom header would be a good addition! My only worry is that some of the colors look kind of washed out, but I don’t want to spend the $$ to get the color customizations. At least not yet. 🙂

  1. I like it – you’re right, it’s v clean. Hate those “busy” pages with too much writing. And some people use the colours really badly, and it’s impossible to read. This is nice. I’m going to have to do some fiddling – I’m just dire with technology! Plus it eats into reading time lol!

    • I am not at all visually talented, so I get completely overwhelmed when I need to choose colors and figure out what looks good together. (Maybe that’s why I’m such a bad clothes shopper!) I do tend to like a clean, uncluttered look, and I wanted a neater way to lay out the sidebar items (which I still need to prune a bit). And you’re so right — I got a bit obsessed with this and spent hours fiddling with minor details, and then realized that I’d just lost all my reading time for the night. 🙂 And I almost forgot to say — thank you for your nice comments!

  2. I like it a lot. It gives the impression of a stornger personality in comparison with the old theme, maybe because of the white/black constrast.
Did you add the header or are you going to change it. This one looks nice too 🙂

    • Originally, there was no header image, just the blog name above the menu bar. I tried a few different images, but then I found this one and felt like it was just what I was looking for! I like how it fits in a little with how I think about my blog’s name, too. Ooh, and if it makes me seem like I have a stronger personality, I’m all for it! 🙂 Thank you so much for your nice comments.

      • Thank you! I agonized way more than I should have over making a change, because I tend not to trust my own judgment when it comes to anything artistic or design-related. I’m so glad you like it! I was really excited when I found that header image, after doing a lot of searching. It was just what I wanted!
